  Storms Tonight
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 04-30-2019, 05:26 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (5)

So far, nothing like tornadoes for us in this long string of storms sweeping across Oklahoma tonight. A bigger threat is flooding and maybe power outages. One tornado swept through an open rural area and the faded out some ways south of here. The storms aren't following any kind predictable pattern, which makes it hard to tornadoes to form. Just cool air, hail and several inches of rainfall in mere minutes.

I ran across this article on 7minutes.net "This Easter will you worship Jesus or Molech?"  https://7minutes.net/blog/jesus-molech-a...t-theories

I am interested in thoughts on this author's take on East vs West.

THANKS!!  -  Dave

  Deadman Switch
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 04-23-2019, 09:30 AM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (2)

In Internet parlance, "deadman switch" refers to any preparations made to handle online accounts through a proxy in case something incapacitates the primary operator. We have lawyers and stuff for real assets, but you have to set up your own provisions for virtual assets.

So, for example, I have given Jay the keys to my blog and an attached G-Suite account. If I die or become unable to do Internet stuff, it's all in his hands. In this case, I'm not leaving any particular instructions because just having to be the back-up is burden enough. My whole image of this is that it's not my ministry; I'm just filling the role of senior elder. The only reason I bother is because I keep hearing noise about how my writings are valuable to some of you.

Would someone else like to take the proxy to handle my books and the Smashwords account? Otherwise, I'm leaving it to my wife, and she's not too keen on messing around with Internet accounts as complicated as that. Be aware that I have multiple back-ups of everything I've written. In the case of the blog, that's everything back to January 2014. I have all my books in multiple formats saved on several different devices (text, HTML, ebook, PDF, LibreOffice and MS Word), and Smashwords keeps their copies in similar formats, plus some that I don't bother with. So you can get your own personal copies of everything from them or from me. Just note that nothing has been printed on paper, and I'm not inclined to work too hard on that. Anyone is welcome to handle that project, too, if they feel like doing that kind of work.

I've checked with Smashwords and have their guidance on how to do things, so we don't violate any terms of service. Most of my other accounts will be just a matter of shutting them down. I've also chatted with the guy who owns the server where my static account is hosted. I can't think of a reason to keep it alive after I pass on, but I've made arrangements with him for a deadman switch, too.

Just in case you are wondering, I don't foresee dying anytime soon. If anything, the issue is more a matter of things like persecution that would keep me offline, though I don't have any concrete threats on that, either. I'm just getting things lined up because the Spirit moves me to do so.

  Got Questions?
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 04-21-2019, 09:09 AM - Forum: Questions - Replies (8)

In keeping with my blog post for today, I was wondering if there were any issues I haven't covered to your satisfaction. Aside from refusing to feed trolls, there's nothing I won't discuss. Sometimes it takes a good question to provoke something I never gave conscious consideration. All you get is my own answer to any particular issue, but if you've had something pecking at you in the back of your mind, this is a good time to ask.

  Wife's healing
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 04-21-2019, 08:25 AM - Forum: Prayer Requests - Replies (9)

My Beloved is afflicted with an abscess on her person. It makes walking, sitting and lying uncomfortable. She'll miss one day of work, at least. The real problem is that she is between doctors. The previous shut down his clinic without warning; just went poof. The new one can't see her before late May, so we ended up going to the emergency room this morning to get it drained. Fortunately, the doctor was willing to renew her diabetic prescription, too. The treatment she got was good, and we pray that we can handle the co-pay without trouble.

  Hoppy Easter!
Posted by: jaybreak - 04-21-2019, 06:57 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (2)

It's a bad title, I know. That was intentional.

We don't necessarily do official holidays here at Radix Fidem; they are entirely subjective. That doesn't mean we can't celebrate something when we want.

Below is an interesting hymn someone from work showed me. It's not necessarily resurrection-oriented, but still timely. Lyrics are below, too.

Here is an old blog post of mine with a true Easter song, but consider this a warning Smile

Today He who hung the earth upon the waters is hung on the tree,
The King of the angels is decked with a crown of thorns.
He who wraps the heavens in clouds is wrapped in the purple of mockery.
He who freed Adam in the Jordan is slapped on the face.
The Bridegroom of the Church is affixed to the Cross with nails.
The Son of the virgin is pierced by a spear.
We worship Thy passion, O Christ.
We worship Thy passion, O Christ.
We worship Thy passion, O Christ.
Show us also Thy glorious resurrection.

  It missed us!
Posted by: forrealone - 04-19-2019, 06:20 PM - Forum: Praises - Replies (5)

I am unsure how many tornado warnings (at least a dozen) and actual tornadoes on the ground there were, but they all missed us.  One traveled several miles about 20 miles from our house.  We did have some strong wind gusts, but no damage.

There is still a possibility of more storms, possibly severe.  But, I worry not.

I pray for those who suffered from the storms and there are several thousands of folks without power.

I feel like I have a hedge of Angels about me.  Not that I am protected from harm if His Will is such, but I am so very grateful that I and all of my family fared well.

I thank you Jesus
I thank you Jesus
I thank you Jesus
Thank You Lo o lord

Well You brought me
(Yes You brought me)
Such a mighty, mighty long way
Oh Yeah
And you taught me
(Yes You taught me)
How to live from day to day
Thank You Lord!
Repeat til done.

  A very simple African American Praise song that "The Southernaires", the choir of Lenoir Community Church used to sing. The Pastard would personally choose an elite of around 25 to 30 out of the 60 plus member regular choir. They would tour New England every fall. I still belt out that song because it blesses me and Glorifies God. Coming soon...the rest of the story. The tune is;
Da da da da da
Da da da da da
Da da da da da da da da  da  da

Da da da da
(Da da da da)
Da da da da da da da da
Da da
Da da da da
(Da da da da)
Da da da da da da da da
Da da Da!
Easy sneezy. Ain't it, now you have a new shower song.
Blessings Y'all  KOKO, Amen.
