Wife's healing - Ed Hurst - 04-21-2019 My Beloved is afflicted with an abscess on her person. It makes walking, sitting and lying uncomfortable. She'll miss one day of work, at least. The real problem is that she is between doctors. The previous shut down his clinic without warning; just went poof. The new one can't see her before late May, so we ended up going to the emergency room this morning to get it drained. Fortunately, the doctor was willing to renew her diabetic prescription, too. The treatment she got was good, and we pray that we can handle the co-pay without trouble. RE: Wife's healing - jaybreak - 04-21-2019 Never heard of doctors just up and bailing like that. Weird. Maybe it happens more often than I notice. I will pray for the situation, of course. RE: Wife's healing - forrealone - 04-22-2019 After my second child, I developed an abscess/infection along my C-section. I ended up soaking gauze in salt water and placing it on there a couple of times a day. When the last 4 inches of B's abdominal incision got infected, I removed the surgical staples along that section. I was advised to keep that open part of the incision irrigated with saline and then pack the wound with a saline soaked gauze sponge (pad). I did that every evening. In both instances, the wounds responded well and healed completely. Just a thought. PS Yes, I actually have surgical instruments and over the years have learned how to do basic first aid wound care. RE: Wife's healing - Ed Hurst - 04-22-2019 Thanks, Linda. The real problem in this case is that normal healing doesn't happen when the blood sugar levels aren't properly regulated. RE: Wife's healing - forrealone - 04-22-2019 True. Immune system degradation and other contributory factors..... I get it. I have very little experience with diabetes patients. I will be praying. RE: Wife's healing - IainH - 04-22-2019 I am have been praying and I know how important she is to all of us here as the quiet half of you. I ain't gonna git all schmaltzy just know y'all are in my heart. So, as an escape from an awkward moment, I render the follerin' My wife has nine toes thanks to diabetes or her lack of taking her condition seriously enough. It will undoubtedly kill her eventually. I think it plays a role in her significant mood swings. I know how to use the sugarbloodmeter and how much to jab her with until the ambulance arrives. She has learned, some, from two emergency hospital stays (one in ICU after her bs hit over 840) and one scheduled when they took her toe. "You keep getting whittled on and there won't be much left, look at your young'uns, woman." Anyway, I'm sure your Missus has more sense than mine, they both share perseverance dealing with weirdos HA !!! RE: Wife's healing - Ed Hurst - 04-22-2019 My wife cares about her condition, but is frustrated by a hundred little things that work against her having better control. Some are simply unknowable. Her gifts allow her to sense when it's something she can't change. She knows it will likely end her life a little early at some time in the future, and trusts in the Lord for all the issues she can't get her hands on for herself. But she is the silent partner who works just as hard as I do making this ministry happen while she's able. RE: Wife's healing - Ed Hurst - 04-23-2019 She's been released from care. The doctors seem to believe she's well on her way to mending. Back to work Wednesday. Thanks for your support.
