My Beloved (Veloyce) has suffered one of those Win10 updates that wiped everything from her personal files, all her configurations, and some of the software she had installed. There are a lot of pictures gone forever. It appears most of her work documents and such were backed up on OneDrive, but she had it set to backup everything and it didn't. I'm not going to say Microsoft is evil, but they do make mistakes and this is where it shows up.

Update: She found the pictures. Whew! But it's still a mess with having to put everything back in place.

We are participating in our weekly prayer time at 5pm EST. Check out the prayer request forum for some prayer topics, but feel free to lift up your own.

You may also fast. There's no obligation or guidelines to how you should do it, or if you should do it at all. Just fast as the Lord leads and speaks to your convictions.

The cold front moved in, then a very wet pattern came from the SW over top of it. So we have had near constant precipitation and it fell onto freezing temperatures at ground level to make a lot of freezing rain. The trees across the street began dropping limbs in the street. I went out to move them several times. Our power has been out since this morning, right while we were baking biscuits. Big Grin  Breakfast became canned ham and crackers.

So I'm sitting here at Panera because they have power and wifi. The power isn't out all over town, but in a lot of spots. The rain should continue until sometime tomorrow, but the temps have already bottomed out, and once we get back above freezing we should be able to stay there for a while. So we got a thaw coming.

The Lord is good.

This is not a word from God, just me flapping my gums, as it were. If the projections are correct that we are headed for a solar minimum (currently called the "Eddy Minimum"), then food prices will soar. I've seen some estimates, and the folks who project futures prices for the commodities markets are looking at prices more than doubling by this time next year.

Now, this is on top of the warnings we've had to stock up and be ready for government to collapse over the next few months. It's a good thing to have canned goods and barter materials (including precious metals, if possible) for the immediate threat, but on your long term prayer list, you might want to chat with God about the solar minimum that still might be down the road a ways.

It only costs time. That's the good part. The bad part is that my bicycle will be in the shop for at least another week.

Here are the gruesome details: This bike has pretty high-end components -- Shimano 105. When I got the handlebars raised, they had to replace some of the cables with longer ones, because elevating the handlebars would be stressed too much. After I got it back, and things were just a whole lot better for riding, the front shifter quit working. I took it back because they had suggested the new cables might stretch after I started using it, and they would gladly readjust the tension for free. The chief mechanic looked at it and found out that the mechanism inside the shift lever was pulling only about half the time.

He called and conferred with Shimano and they couldn't make sense of that either, so they agreed to replace it for free. But it ships from their US warehouse, and they are running behind on orders. So the bike shop is expecting the replacement shifter late this week, or maybe next week.

Yeah, I'm whimpering, because walking still hurts enough that I can't do nearly enough walking to make up for the difference in the workout. The good part is that I honestly have better prayer times when walking, because it requires far less attention than riding.

Ah, the Lord knows what He's doing, even if I don't.
