We are participating in our weekly prayer time at 5pm EST. Check out the prayer request forum for some prayer topics, but feel free to lift up your own.

You may also fast. There's no obligation or guidelines to how you should do it, or if you should do it at all. Just fast as the Lord leads and speaks to your convictions.

  Get ready to barter
Posted by: IainH - 04-21-2020, 12:56 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (3)

When enough people wake up to the fact that currency is IOU's and money is Gold and Silver and inflation catches up to the insane level of play money printing, barter will be back in style so, go ahead and give it a try. Our parents and grandparents lived through the Great Depression and knew how to trade. My Grandfather paid off his farm in crops during WW2. He went to join up with his brothers and brothers in law not long after Pearl harbor, he was 32 years old. The recruiter told him that Uncle Sam needed him to farm for Victory and he did, growing hemp amongst other things. My Dad was worked pretty hard throughout the 1940's. My Dad and my Grandpa could haggle and trade in ways that, I now must learn. The Country Club isn't going to be the backbone of my income this year so, I'm looking at ways that I can trade my knowledge and labor into those things my family needs. The "Raleigh people" are going to be using their summer home more this year and they already have. People left on Sunday and I've got others coming in tomorrow. So as much as I hate cleaning houses, it looks like they will keep my busier this year. I'm gonna, finally, fix my pressure washer and see what I can do with that. Seeing as nobody likes cleaning windows, I might try and make that a sideline, what with people being inside and all. I just don't see wealthy Blowing Rockers out cleaning windows. Who knows, I just found out today about the Club and I haven't had much time to ponder the matter. One thing I do know is that I won't sit around and wait for the gubment to "do something".

  Virtual Communion Ressurection Sunday 2020
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 04-12-2020, 07:58 AM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (4)

I should have thought to post this sooner, but today I believe we should hold a virtual communion service. The elements won't matter; use what you have on hand for bread and fruit juice. We need each other more than ever now, and this is one way to celebrate what holds us together. My wife and I will do this around 10:30 AM Central Time.

  Situational Awareness
Posted by: IainH - 04-08-2020, 03:26 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (1)

One thing that should concern us all during this time is crime. Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night, nor pandemic will keep the junkie from their appointed fix and that includes crimes associated with their appointed fix. There are other criminals too, I've known several and while they all lacked education they didn't lack in animal cunning. Quarantines and shutdowns are just a challenge and the criminal element are very ingenious in finding ways around the law. Be vigilant, be aware of your surroundings at all times. Lock your doors and leave an outside light on. I used to sleep with my pistol in the night stand now I sleep with it under my pillow and I have stuff laying around my easily accessible windows like, boards with rusty 16d nails in them along with other stuff I call noisemakers. If someone tries breaking in our home at night they will make a racket and wake me up. Knowing what I do about the criminal mind, I believe they will move out of the towns and into the country where there are fewer patrolling cops. Break ins are not uncommon out in the county. We live on a dead end road which, one reformed thief told me he always avoided because he liked to have at least two routes of escape. He was a intelligent thief and was good at it until he got caught and sent to prison. He made the calculation in prison about how much he earned as a burglar and how much he would have earned if he had just done honest work and changed his ways. Now, he's a construction contractor. The druggies are the ones to worry about because they are stupid, desperate and easily moved to violence. Anyway,  I believe we will see a spike in property crimes very soon, if it hasn't already started. Desperate times make for desperate people. Be safe. I pray "Lord, keep my friends safe" for y'all every time the spirit say do. We've had some package thefts in our area recently. And, that was unheard of before cv.

  The Failed Church
Posted by: IainH - 04-07-2020, 12:17 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (8)

After 9/11, the Church failed by worshiping militarism. The US war on terror meant going into countries where tribal societies, by nature, functioned within Biblical Law. I don't have to elaborate, we are familiar with God's design for functioning communities. With rockets, bullets and bombs we smashed the old order and forced Western Democracy on these populations. The American Evangelical Church sold itself to US interventionist policy. I believe this to be the great Sin of the Church and the Government not; Abortion, rampant divorce or the victory of the left in the culture wars, those are political issues outside of the spiritual purpose of the church to serve the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Abortion and sexual immorality is idolatry, sins punished by God on Ancient Israel, the covenant nation. The United States is not a covenant nation so, the punishment for that will be done on individuals at the final judgment. The fact of idolatry that is promoted by the church in the name of Jesus will bring tribulation in the now. Until the United States stops oppressing foreign nations and withdraws the wrath of God will continue to be poured out. The nation in the region whose foreign policy we enforce is an abomination and that is another reason but, they have a track record of eliminating opponents to their objectives and I cannot become a target so, I leave you to your own thoughts on that.
This is our moment, for the tribulations will cause a crisis of conscience among many believers as the conventional teachings of Western Christianity are doomed to failure. The nominal Christians will leave. We shall pass through the fire, not unscathed but toughened by trial and emboldened. God bless you, my friends.

  An Encouraging Song
Posted by: jaybreak - 04-03-2020, 12:33 PM - Forum: Praises - Replies (6)

Hope everyone is well here. Posting these lyrics, not necessarily because of the corona stuff, but just as general encouragement. I've been going through "some things" lately and this song spoke a bit to me. The lyrics, as these things go, are a bit on the evie side, but the sentiment is fine with me. That's a good thing about song lyrics: most of the ones that come from churchian perspectives we can use since the lyrics often don't get very explicit with their churchian-ness.

I may be posting more music because I've been firing up my Spotify all day while working from home.

Quote:Ivoryline - With the Daylight

For now you will deal with heartache
And for now, you will face some pain
But now, release all of your buried grief
You don't know how, inside it lies your healing

Letting grace make a way
Letting love take a place inside your heart now
You don't have to grasp
You just have to ask and peace will find you out

Though grief is heavy tonight
Joy will break out with the daylight

Even now, you are being restored
And for now, you don't fully understand
Even now your whole life's being fought for
By the one who calls himself "I Am"

Letting grace make a way
Letting love take a place inside your heart now
You don't have to grasp
You just have to ask and peace will find you out

Though grief is heavy tonight
Joy will break out with the daylight

All, all over the world
Darkness is pierced by light
All over the world, all over the world
Darkness succumbs to light

Letting grace make a way
Letting love take a place inside your heart now
You don't have to grasp
You just have to ask and peace will find you out

Your heart feels it now
Though grief is heavy tonight
Joy will break out with the daylight
You heart feels it now
