Weekly Wednesday Prayer + Fasting, 7/28/2021
Posted by: jaybreak - 07-28-2021, 07:14 AM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

We are participating in our weekly prayer time at 5pm EST. Check out the prayer request forum for some prayer topics, but feel free to lift up your own.

You may also fast. There's no obligation or guidelines to how you should do it, or if you should do it at all. Just fast as the Lord leads and speaks to your convictions.

  The Adversary
Posted by: IainH - 07-27-2021, 05:45 AM - Forum: Prayer Requests - Replies (5)

Has his hand on me heavy. He's older, smarter, and knows me better than I know myself and can cater an effup customized just to fit me and I won't realize it until it's done been done. I'm tired of being sucker punched and being reactive in the face of his assaults. I wake at 5 am and I get ready and go get Nana up, fix her breakfast, check her sugar and give her, her insulin shot then, I go to work. When I get home I slump into a funk and read for hours to distract my self from my increasingly impenetrable anxiety that feels like the world is "off". There are things I need to do and everytime I approach them I get such high anxiety that I have to back off and it sets me back a week or more. The only thing that makes sense is demonic oppression, it is an encroachment on my domain. Pray with me that this is lifted.

  About Them Typewriters
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 07-25-2021, 08:53 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (4)

I have now experienced the so-called "typewriter porn." I was researching what brands of manual typewriter I should be looking for, and learned quickly that the best ones were all manufactured before 1970. I ended up checking with the folks who actually repaired them, and they gave glowing, almost sensual reviews of some they liked. So here's the line-up in order of preference:

Hermes 3000
Olympia SM9 or SM8
Olivetti Lettera 32 or Lettera DL

Oddly, they are all portable. And generally expensive. Folks on eBay seem to know what that are worth. I can dream, can't I? I don't expect anyone to remember this list, but I figured I'd share what I learned in case any of you are thinking about this idea of being able to keep writing after a major CME.

  Romanichal Cultural Influence
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 07-23-2021, 09:11 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (1)

I have no particular reason to argue with Wikipedia's description of Romanichals. It's not my ethnic identity, but folks on my Dad's side of the family lived on the fringes of Romanichal society and married into it some. We have a very large number of relatives hanging out around Drumright, OK. You won't learn much about that from what you can find online, but among my Romanichal relatives, that's the state "tribal HQ." And just so you'll know, they call themselves "Romachill" in those parts.

That heavy influence shows itself in many ways. When my Mom took me to register for sixth grade in Anchorage, AK, that was school number 12 for me. The list of places I lived as a child is long and highly varied, ranging from as far west as Four Corners, and as far east as somewhere out in rural eastern Oklahoma; it runs as far south as Texas and as far north as Alaska. I could easily live in an RV if I had one, simply because I got used to scaling down to that as a child. And we were dirt poor at times, sleeping in a broken down car for a few weeks, and in a relative's front room quite often. We went places on a shoestring all the time.

Here in Oklahoma, the Romanichal were more often oil field workers than they were agricultural. My kin have a strong affinity for that entire industry, and lots of us have owned or worked in petroleum retail, along with auto repair and anything normally associated with that. I suppose being some kind of mechanic comes from being so poor and never affording new vehicles. We never starved, of course. We always found some way of feeding ourselves, even if we slept in our vehicles. Our folks knew how to hustle and make just enough to stay alive. Some of my relatives are as crooked as any "Gypsy" can be, but most of us went to church enough to avoid those bad habits.

This is partly why I reject the label "Boomer." Despite growing up in that generation, I never was a part of the culture. For a few brief years, my Dad tried to be American middle-class while we were in Alaska. We bought a house and went to a suburban Baptist church. But the insiders rejected us as not a part of their kind. This happened in my formative years, and it stuck with me for the rest of my life. It helped to make me anti-materialistic, far more interested in experiences than property. Those people had the property, but they had a mean streak hidden behind their smooth social habits. I came to hate them. It was the time in my life when I knew God was calling me to serve Him, and I wanted nothing to do with their ideas about that.

I remember how much of an outsider I was from all their kids. I had no real friends in that church. Oh, and that was where I first encountered folks who loved and served the federal government system, and first became aware the bizarre world of deep state secrecy culture.

Just a little story about me to amuse you today...

  On the Doorstep
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 07-20-2021, 09:44 PM - Forum: Prayer Requests - Replies (8)

First, you need to understand that I don't feel threatened at all. God is going to take care of us and there's nothing to fear. At the same time, I have this overwhelming sense that something challenging is right on our doorstep. I can't say if that's true for any of you folks, but it's what I feel like here.

Veloyce and I are hoping we can take a trip out to the Black Kettle National Grasslands in western Oklahoma tomorrow. If there's time, I'll also try to catch the Antelope Hills, as well, since they are close together. The weather should be just right, before the heat-wave hits. It may the last such trip for a while, for a lot of different reasons. Stuff is about to fall off a cliff. Pray with us that we will all know what to do.

  The Enemies Now
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 07-12-2021, 08:35 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (1)

This is just my own thoughts, not on par with teaching.

It occurs to me that at least one of my expectations has come to full fruition: The entire federal system is now fully under globalist control. We have no friends in Washington DC. Think about that. If you ever hedged or doubted it, you should now see the FBI, IRS, etc., are all fully partisan. Even the military is undergoing a rapid and deep subversion. There is not a single agency we can trust. And if you happen to be a flag-waver, then you'll need to wave the American flag against the federal government. The uniform doctrine is that the flag is "racist" and must be removed from federal use as a symbol for the government.

The thing is, it's not that they are going to come after us for the gospel, but that they hate so very many things that the gospel will simply be another part of what they despise. We aren't really the target at all, just collateral damage, as it were. Still, the entire federal government system is our enemy.

  What Is Your Treasure?
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 07-04-2021, 11:13 AM - Forum: Sermons, Teachings, Blog Posts - No Replies

In the Old Testament, as was typical across the entire Ancient Near East, a man's greatest treasure was the people under his dominion. He could lose everything material, but if he had good people in his household, he could rise again to wealth. So it's natural that the whole focus of our worldly ambitions should be people. This is part of the meaning of shalom -- the focus is on people as the greatest treasure God could ever give you.

Thus, I've taught that when running a business under the Covenant, the primary objective is to employ and prosper as many people as possible. It's not a matter of putting money in the bank; God will take care of that. You just focus on bringing a good level of prosperity to as many people as possible. Furthermore, your moral obligation is to start with your own kin. Pull in as many family members as possible as employees before you start branching out into hiring more distant family. That's God's Word.

Every entity that violates this principle is blessed only by Satan. Even when a business management favors, say quality of the product, over mere profit-taking, then they will be blessed to some degree by God. Not so much the operation itself, but the people involved will be personally blessed, because that's how God does things. Whether that means God will prosper their business operations is much more complicated, but the underlying truth remains that God does what is in their best interest if they open the doors to Him.

Keep in mind that some very hideous operations are allowed to prosper for the sake of becoming a scourge in God's hands. His plans will ever be inscrutable to us, but the principles of shalom remain. It's not human need as measured by humans; God puts moral blessings first. A critical element in those moral blessings is that we strive to bless people who place themselves under our covering in any way.

Your greatest treasure is people. All material goods exist to bless the Lord's name through blessing people.
