Remember me around 2:30pm as I have an appointment at the estates division of the clerk of court to settle Michelle's affairs. A high anxiety situation for me for several reasons that would take too long to write.

We are participating in our weekly prayer time at 5pm EST. Check out the prayer request forum for some prayer topics, but feel free to lift up your own.

You may also fast. There's no obligation or guidelines to how you should do it, or if you should do it at all. Just fast as the Lord leads and speaks to your convictions.

  Dominion and Prayer
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 09-06-2021, 07:37 AM - Forum: Sermons, Teachings, Blog Posts - No Replies

This is part teaching and part simply my characterization of what I see happening.

For now, there is no meat-space congregation for me to serve. Lacking such a flock for this shepherd anointing, I pray for the folks where I live. I already know that traditional evangelical methods of outreach aren't going to work here. They need to come to me. So I've been praying that the Lord would work through my spiritual dominion here. As noted in one of my blog posts, what that does is call for His shalom, His divine Presence to manifest in power. If His people call on His name, He will build up and protect His shalom.

It could be where you live, or where you work, or any other mission field. You'll know; God works that way.

So I've been praying for that shalom to come in power. Granted, there are plenty of people around here whom the Lord will simply pass over, at least as far as I am concerned. He's got something else for them; I'm not in their picture. But there are some whom the Lord wants me to shepherd as His Elect, in one way or another. The issue, then, is whether they will submit to His Spirit moving, or whether they will resist and give room to their demons. Those demons will become very active; the Lord will crack the whip on them and make them do their work.

When God's people are provoked in that fashion, it either drives them to seek covenant support for redemption, or they go bonkers. His Spirit is polarizing. If they go bonkers, they will eventually be driven away physically. One resident has already started down that path. They won't be able to exist that way where the power of prayer gathers. The others will seek you out for reasons they don't even understand, and that's your chance to share your faith. That's how fellowship is born.

Even if this has nothing to do with starting a church, it opens the door to a move of the Spirit that eventually results in forming a covenant family. This is the method I'm using to get things started. I'm waiting to see where it takes me. Every morning I go out on the sidewalk and pray for the folks around me, in that I ask the Lord to come and visit. I ask for Him to build His shalom and make His Presence felt.

It's Not Supposed to Make Sense
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 09-04-2021, 09:06 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (1)

No, I don't understand it. I generally like Microsoft, but the Lord tells me to move away from it. I hate Google, but the Lord tells me to use their services for a certain purpose. And so on, and so forth. I'm sure you have things in your life like that. I have no idea where this is all going, aside from the assurance that it will involve reaching people for the gospel and helping them pursue the Radix Fidem way.

  Bibles

I bought 80 NKJV Bibles and they arrived today. What for? Don't know.
I was following a Divine moral imperative as laid on my heart by the Spirit of the Living God. It occurred to me as 200 Bibles about a month and a half ago but, something wasn't right. Then, last week it came to me to purchase one box of 40, somehow I ordered 2 boxes and didn't find out I received my invoice. Maybe, I have to go through a lot of dead souls to find a receptive heart. "Dammit Iain, quit overthinking stuff!"

  My Biggest Gripe
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 08-22-2021, 12:25 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (7)

And it's not even about Christian religion, really. I've been keeping track of this whole business of resisting unjustified restrictions, and not just on the COVID thing. It's the entire range of the whatever we might call the Liberty Movement. Some of their ideas are actually pretty good, but they destroy the message by how they present it. Sometimes I think someone somewhere is boosting these boring blabbermouths just so it kills the liberty message.

So today I was looking at a video that involved an interview with a physician about things you can do to minimize the risks of COVID, and the shedding from vaccinated people, and a lot of other good stuff. The truth is, the core of the message could have been presented in 5-10 minutes. But instead, the host and guest blathered on and on about the stupid video itself, and filled it with polite pleasantries that should have been handled off camera for us. But because these people are such attention hounds, they destroy the message for people who don't have time for a stinking hour-long blab festival.

There's a whole lot of stuff I don't read for this very reason. Get to the point, folks! This is why the most important stuff I have to say is typically condensed into outline form. That way, if you don't get it, you can ask for more details. Lord, make me terse for Your glory.

I appreciate your prayers of late, I drew strength from them over the last 6 days. However, the most powerful prayers came from my mother in law, Judi because she knew that I was detoxing from the botanical that I used to get off prescription pain medication. I managed to taper to the point of diminished returns then, I took the opportunity that arose when I was required to be true to my word even though I knew mask refusal was going to cost me the job that I liked. I had to in that context because of my big mouth [I will not comply with any future mandates] and, the necessity of my yay being yay and, nay, nay. Clearly, I have not yet learned to be more thoughtful before saying certain things and I have to continue to work on that.
In times past, there was no way that I could have done what I did last week which was to get Judi up and situated from the day. Nonetheless, God granted me a measure of grace to do what needed doing.  Judi is under my covenant protection as the matriarch of our family and as an active warrior in prayer for the maintenance of that covenant. She understands how things work and although she is a shut in, her spiritual influence is mighty in the Heavenly realm.
Considering that from 2014/15 until 2020, I was more interested in diving into the esoteric aspects of heart led living and less on the act of living with the conviction necessary for it to become the motive force in my life. I talked to Michelle about it a lot and had I listened in return it wouldn't have been a surprise to find out in October 2020, on our last trip to the NC coast, that Michelle was naturally heart led and had a much deeper understanding that in many ways surpassed my own. I resolved to really work on getting clean and becoming the husband that she deserved. Unfortunately, she was taken away and cannot see where I'm at now. I feel rather shitty about that and that's how it should be. Nowadays that's called "owning your shit" and that means digging deep and finding those bitter roots and hauling those suckers into the light and dealing with them.
When Michelle moved on to her reward, I knew that the aftermath was going to be nasty because of my sins.  I treated a gift from God as a vain thing and have received in myself a measure of wrath commensurate with my sin. I got swallowed by a great fish and just got barfed up on land. After I finish cleaning off the fish smell, it's on to Nineveh. So, yeah now you know and can pray better.
