  Heart Led Path
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 03-13-2022, 09:16 AM - Forum: Sermons, Teachings, Blog Posts - Replies (4)

The heart-led path is a magnificent gift from the Father. It breathes life into all the other gifts and talents He invests in us.

At least as far back as this past October, I knew that 2022 was the year when tribulation would really get roaring. My mind searched for all kinds of ways, but my convictions said it was none of those. Who would have dreamed we'd have an invasion of Ukraine, and that it would lead to all kinds of economic sorrows? Well, it was obviously the plotting and planning by the globalist elite to provoke it, but I never expected it. I wasn't privy to that kind of intel. All I knew is that my convictions pressed me to get ready for economic troubles.

And they are now upon us. There was a much older conviction from several years ago that it would be a series of shocks, not all at once. That's also apparently so.

Now I'm sensing in my convictions that there will be a really big surprise coming out of this Ukraine conflict. It will include an awful lot of human stupidity. Make no mistake, it will make things worse for the flesh, but it will bring glory to the Lord. It will be a revelation to those paying attention. I can't wait to see what it is, because I'm convinced it's already been set in motion.

But you need to check your own convictions; don't rely on mine. It may not be the same for you. Still, I won't be shy in sharing this; it's been burning in my heart for several days.

  NT Doctrine -- Luke 13:1-9
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 03-12-2022, 06:45 PM - Forum: Sermons, Teachings, Blog Posts - No Replies

We come to a rough patch in the chronology of events. There is really no reason to imagine that Jesus left Judea for another trip back to Galilee. However, He often disappeared into Bethany, up on the Mount of Olives. We know that Lazarus, Martha and Mary lived there and hosted Him and the Twelve often. Attempts to harmonize Luke 11 and 12 indicate that he throws in some scattered topics that better fit the context of events from earlier when compared with the other gospels.

However, one particular item unique to Luke's Gospel does seem to fit the mood of Jesus in the last few months of His life there in the vicinity of Jerusalem. Granted, the context seems a little confused, as Luke would naturally assume his readers would remember events now recorded nowhere else.

Luke tells us that some men came to Jesus to discuss an incident where a significant crowd of Galileans were slaughtered in the Temple courts by Pilate's soldiers while in the act of sacrificing animals. Keep in mind that Pilate had no jurisdiction over Galilee, but Herod Antipas did, and these two powerful men were sworn enemies right up until the time Jesus was put on trial. Also, this sounds like something Pilate would do, given his short temper with Jews in general.

In this case, the general rule about keeping Roman soldiers out of the Court of Women and Court of Israel did not apply because it was presumably a riot, right there under the gaze of the commanders in the tower of Fort Antonia, standing on the corner of the Temple Plaza. The soldiers were mostly Syrian conscripts and shared Pilate's spite for Jews, so they wouldn't hesitate to slaughter them for even a thin excuse. The contempt most Jewish leaders showed Romans was hard to ignore. On top of this, keep in mind that Jesus openly condemned the Galileans as idolatrous, and Roman imperial records found them frequently rebellious.

But this slaughter was a horrifying thing to Jewish leadership. So it's quite likely whomever was bringing this to Jesus' attention was a Pharisee soliciting some kind of political comment. On the one hand, the bloodshed was deeply disrespectful of the sacred Temple grounds. On the other hand, it was a bunch of despicable paganized Galileans. Most people would have mentioned how it was all so totally unexpected.

The obvious question: Were these rioting Galileans obeying Moses? Is there any valid claim to Covenant covering? Of course not. The fanatical rebellion festering there in Galilee over the past few decades under the leadership of one Judas of Galilee was notoriously conflicting with Moses and the Talmudic teachings, both.

God allowed the Roman soldiers to kill the rioting Galileans. The tenor of Jesus' comment was that the Pharisees were no better. The Pharisees were also out from under the Covenant covering. They, too, were in danger of political violence that would have no meaning in the context of God's divine favor.

Then Jesus mentioned another mysterious event in which a Tower of Siloam fell and crushed 18 people to death. Our best guess is that it was an earthquake. For all the speculation, we have only an archaeological discovery of what appears to be the foundation of a tower near the Pool of Siloam. But the context here indicates that Jesus referred to it as a random accident, very sad for there being no hint of justice. It's not so hard to understand the Galilean rebels being slaughtered, but why would God let such a thing happen to the guys at the Pool of Siloam?

Again: There was a presumption of Covenant covering that didn't exist. The nation as a whole had been led out from under the Covenant long ago, and the Pharisees were largely to blame at this point. The promises of shalom under Moses had been missing for a long time, and this was the reason for so many of Jesus' miracles. If the Pharisees did not repent, they would remain subject to random accidents like the men who died when the tower collapsed. They had no Covenant protection.

Jesus went on with a parable. He told the story of a fruitless fig tree. The fig tree was an old symbol for Israel, highlighting the peace and prosperity God had promised them. The expected fruit was the righteousness and shalom witness of the people committed to obeying the Covenant. God had come looking for fruit three years running now under the ministries of John the Baptist and Jesus. Jesus was the gardener pleading for just one more growing season.

Note that fig trees typically produced two or three crops yearly. When the Passover came around, it was about the time for the first crop. Thus, Jesus is suggesting that He is going to devote the coming winter months to giving one last shot at fertilizing this thing. By the time Passover comes, if the nation does not repent, it's time to end their place in the Covenant.

  Net Panic
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 03-11-2022, 10:41 AM - Forum: Miscellaneous - Replies (4)

I'm seeing a lot of warnings about likely catastrophes involving cyber-warfare. I have mixed feelings about this. I'm not such an expert as to have all the answers by any means. Instead, I've learned to trust certain voices that have been consistent with my experience and things in general. It's not as if I can give you a list, because some of those voices show up only on forums operated by others.

You can easily go whole-hog and panic like this guy. I think he's overstating things, besides which he is trying to sell you something. His outline is okay, but he makes more money from getting folks to panic. From what I've learned through reading guys who really know this stuff, cyber attacks don't work like that, in the sense that Russian hackers cannot take down the whole Western Internet system, nor can they use it to destroy every major supply system. On the other hand, the linked article does a decent job of asking the right questions.

The bigger threat is our own government. We all know about how those high-level simulation exercises are nothing more than pre-staging false flag events they plan to use against us. It was that way with COVID-19, and other disasters going back at least as far as the Murrah Building bombing here in my own area. So when our elite folk go to participate in simulations about things happening with the Internet, we know they are planning something ugly. For now, it looks like they plan to create excuses to restrict how we access the Net, and what we are allowed to see. Killing the Net itself would hurt them too much.

This is why I've warned that the Internet will become useless to us for things like fellowship, because they will likely restrict any content produced by us little people. Think about the current wave of censorship we've been seeing on Big Tech services, and imagine it being applied across the board. Seems to me there will be censorship boards activated for everything, but instead of a government office, it will be something private, but governed by the common wokie ideology. It remains to be seen how it will be implemented, but I'm expecting to be shut down myself in one way or another, sooner or later.

I also believe that censoring private communications will be much, much harder than the elite imagine. Encrypted email from neutral providers -- there are some -- will take far longer to shut down, and it may never actually happen. I tend to believe we'll see a major solar event before that happens. In other words, we will probably have encrypted email services until there is no service for anybody at all.

Yes, low powered computing devices and solar charging stuff is probably a good idea if you can afford it. That will give you the greatest longevity in terms of staying connected. I've been studying how to keep doing what I really need to do on Android, for example. It isn't so much my love for tablets and Chromebooks, but the near certainty that I need to keep track of what's possible under various scenarios. I need to keep track of what I can do against what I should not do with them.

  Outlining the Great Reset

This is a long video (almost an hour) that includes a lot of superfluous chatter, but it also provides some details you might not have heard before. I don't agree with James Corbett's ideas about activism and what we can actually do about the evil ruling elite, but I can appreciate his insights into how they operate and what they admit they are planning.

Summary of what caught my attention: There has never been a human government that didn't suffer from the determination of a ruling elite to decide what's best for us. They firmly believe they have every right to take control. The current crop of ruling elite in the West (neoliberal globalist flavor) have been planning for at least a century to replace all currency with a notional thing based in energy use. Your dollars and euros will be replaced with something based on "carbon credits". That it will be a digital currency means it will permit the most egregious forms of granular control over your access to and use of these credits.

Russia and China are already working on a similar plan, but with a different cultural value system behind it. Thus, the details will be different. The war is not upsetting to the underlying thrust of elite rule; the current warfare in Ukraine could easily serve merely as the excuse for how our Western elite wrap us in chains of slavery. They have been goading Russia and China into war for decades.

In other words, it confirms most of my previous speculation from another point of view.

  Solar Flare Explanation (Not Scary)
Posted by: jaybreak - 03-06-2022, 07:51 PM - Forum: Miscellaneous - No Replies

This video came up on my son's youtube channel as a suggestion. From the beginning to about 3:40 is an easy to understand explanation of solar flares and CMEs. Yes, it's a bit silly, but it's geared towards children, so...

Just thought it was interesting and timely.

  NT Doctrine -- Luke 10:25-37
Posted by: Ed Hurst - 03-05-2022, 04:20 PM - Forum: Sermons, Teachings, Blog Posts - Replies (1)

Everyone knows the basic story of the Good Samaritan. Most people don't understand it in context. The context is the Covenant of Moses, wherein "neighbor" means very specifically "covenant brother" and not just random folks in your vicinity. Covenant blessings are only for those within Covenant boundaries.

Luke is the only one to mention this story. We can safely assume it took place in or near Jerusalem shortly after the seventy returned from their mission. A Pharisaical lawyer imagined he had a good test question that might trip Jesus up. He asked Jesus to summarize how someone becomes an heir to the Kingdom of Heaven, using the phrase "eternal life".

Jesus said the answer was pretty simple, since it was already revealed in the Law of Moses. What was the popular rabbinical summary of that? It was a feudal commitment to Jehovah as Lord, and to love your covenant family as yourself. As noted elsewhere, on these two principles hung all the Law and the Prophets. We have already established how the Pharisees maintained a graded standard of who was a genuine covenant brother. They reserved the deepest respect for each other, a limited respect for their fans, and regarded the average Jewish peasant with contempt. Everyone else was a nasty dog.

So, the lawyer than asked Jesus to define "neighbor" believing this would trip Him up for sure. Jesus cited a peculiar case.

The road between Jerusalem and Jericho ran about 12 miles, up the Mount of Olives ridge to the east, across a substantial valley on the far side followed by another hill, then on the southern crest of a ridge above a very large wadi running northeasterly. The road wound back and forth as it dropped into the Jordan River Valley, leaving one at the Roman Jericho, which was a couple of miles south of the original Canaanite Jericho. It's that middle portion following the course of the wadi that appears to have been so dangerous because it's isolated and there are all kinds of hiding places along the way.

Robbers took a traveler's property, leaving him badly beaten in only his underwear. He appeared dead. A priest passed by, heading down to Jericho. He couldn't use the excuse he was headed up to the Temple for his duties, which would mean he could not touch a dead body. He just couldn't be bothered. Same story with a Levite. Both of these would have been wealthy men, so perhaps their excuse was to avoid being caught in a baited trap.

Clearly these men were highly respected as Jews of Jews, blessed of the Lord. But they failed to qualify as covenant brothers of the man lying nearly dead on the side of the road. Then came a Samaritan traveler. He was dismayed by the condition of the man and stopped to help. After rendering first aid, he put the injured man on his mount and continued to an inn. Today there's a museum to this heroic fellow, but as with most tourist traps in Israel, it's not likely the placed where the inn actually stood. It's a safe bet the Samaritan took the victim down to the Roman Jericho, where there surely would have been inns.

The Samaritan kept the man with him in his room. The next day, he paid the innkeeper to look after the victim. Apparently the Samaritan was a regular, because he was in a position to make a promise to come back and pay any extra if the innkeeper deemed it justified in getting the man back on his feet.

So who was the Jewish man's covenant brother? Never mind whether the priest and Levite regarded each other as covenant brothers. Whom would the victim have come to regard as a covenant brother, doing for him justice under the Law of Moses? The obvious answer is that the Samaritan traveler qualified as his covenant brother.

Everyone knows that the Samaritans had a slightly edited version of the Law of Moses, and claimed to worship Jehovah at the place they say He appointed on Mount Gerizim. That's what their Book of the Law said. But aside from changing Zion to Gerizim, there were almost no differences. The real difference was that the Samaritans remained faithful to their "Old Testament" religion, while Jews had long departed from theirs. So, this Samaritan felt obliged to show mercy, regardless of the victim's national identity, as his mystical duty of faith to his God.

The Law of Moses was a written record of the Covenant, but God Himself said several times that faith in Him was more important than ritual purity. What does it really mean to hold a feudal obeisance to God? How does one stand before Him as an heir to His promises? Jesus ended by telling the lawyer that we should all live like that Samaritan, because that's how we inherit eternal life. Do you suppose that Samaritan was already living eternally?

  Batman spoiler alert

Art imitates life  or art robbed the current world system script ( how original Dodgy)
I wasn’t sure but I think I was watching a zombie vampire comedy. I had to be careful not to burst out laughing a couple of times, because  the theater zombie audience seemed very mesmerized. It also was threatening to offend my daughter.
It was chaotic evil consuming bureaucratic evil. There was Batman, who clearly hasn’t begun to deal with his demons, the little police and politicians all bowing  the knee to evil for $, and the ridiculous demented destruction loving higher up evil.
There was clearly a stab at our former president’s family, a politician murdered named Donald Mitchell Jr.
There was some preaching at the end on faith in Gotham (ha) and fighting the white man evil. But guys Bruce Wayne is a rich white guy, and he ain’t all good and sweet. Of course  they have to string this story into eternity with a tease of a side view of the next madman for a future movie. They wore us out with the Ave Maria song ( another stab at DTJ and RNC)
It was 3 hours including the commercials at the beginning, that amount to the most exciting scenes from every movie that is now or about to be in theatres. You need a back brace to sit that long.
I can reaffirm God’s Word is true, The Lord God does sit in the heavens and laugh at the wicked and yes evil will slay the wicked ( Psalms 2 and 34)
