Sister-in-law May Be Dying
#21
The girls are named Katy and Allie, and as I recall they are 17 and 15, respectively. Leslie's brother Lee called me yesterday and I listened as he rambled on for a while. He is handling things about as well as anyone could. The girls seem to be okay. Aside from keeping DHS out of things, there really isn't much anyone can do because the girls are used to taking care of themselves to a large degree.

Well it is a relief that life can continue for the girls the best that can be expected under the circumstances.  Although I am certain they are saddened by their mother's death, perhaps they can have some relief now that they can be themselves without the stress that their lives most certainly experienced while she was alive.  I don't mean to sound heartless, cuz I am not;  I just know from my own experience.

Fresh update: The two girls are trying to have Loni declared their legal guardian. State law allows for them to choose after age 14. Their uncle Lee is apparently not performing due diligence with the government aid they already receive. I think Loni is actually looking out for their welfare, not trying to sponge off the situation, so making her legal guardian should be a good thing.

Is there anything that could block the girls' decision, like some dumb legal loophole, that you know of?

Lee doesn't have the training and experience for this; he could hire one of those specialty lawyers, but that won't happen. He's too much of a tightwad. Our DHS tends to favor those who play the game, and Loni is doing just that.

Coming from a tightwad myself, I can appreciate his...waddiness. To a certain extent.

You and I are frugal. Lee's not frugal. His tightness isn't smart or realistic; it's not guided by higher principles. He's just a common materialist.

That is a good description for some of my family members.

On Christmas morning, I get to have breakfast with them. The food is traditional Southern breakfast; biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage(2 varieties) , country ham, eggs, red eye gravy and Grits! Finally, there is chocolate gravy. With this in mind, I set aside my mmm... let's say... less than stellar opinion on a couple of persons of insatiable greed, in short, PIG's. Hey! That's a good'un, I think I'll start using it.
On a lighter note, if you go to "Mike the Cop"'s YouTube channel and find the video " If cops talked like pilots", it's an older post that I found yesterday and it's funny.

Good find, Bro. I'll have to keep track of his stuff.
