I am assuming, though I really don't like to assume, that Lee and the girls are faring as well as can be expected?

Unknown. Lee is so busy with all this stuff that getting him to report may be asking a bit much, given his personality.

Update: I drove my niece Loni over there a few days ago and the house looks okay. Loni has worked out a deal with Lee to stay with the girls so he can go back to Muskogee and take care of his own business. The girls are quite happy with this; she has been involved in their lives some over the years. However, pray for Loni as she can be somewhat socially unstable at times. DHS has closed the case because the family stepped in with guidance and funding. Meanwhile, Leslie still lies in the hospital bed showing no signs of independent response, and they are still getting colored drainage from her brain. Doctors will leave the shunt in place until it runs clear.

Well, that's one identifiably positive thing, right?

Update: Leslie still exhibits no brain activity. The doctors plan to disconnect her from life support tomorrow. Meanwhile, my niece is making silly choices about some things and it's not working out too well. She carries way too much baggage right now and it's complicating things for everyone else. Still, no one else is available.

Eh!  That's unfortunate, but what are you going to do under these circumstances?   Very sad their parents took the roads in their lives that ended up with their daughters dealing as they are, if they even know any better or different.  It is still a definite reason for all of us to lift them up to the Lord in askance for His blessing them somehow in spite of everything.  And, I will.

Leslie has passed. Lee has made a deal with Loni to let her stay with the girls on his behalf, and I believe it involves some limited funding. We'll see how long this lasts.

At least that is over now and a worry/concern that can be laid to rest.  Let us know how things progress should you become aware of anything and care to share....

Hopefully Leslie's daughters are doing okay with all of this. Assuming they knew how their parents lived, they may have expected Leslie to take a dip and perhaps prepared themselves.
