In lieu of the usual weekly announcement of our prayer time, I assume we are all kind of in that mode all day today, so I let it slide.
Found this choral song on the radio the other day, right as I got to the gym. Stayed in the car to listen to it all. Really beautiful song.

May I take this time to tell all of you Merry Christmas. Although this time of year is not really His birth; may we nevertheless take this time to celebrate His Love for us, our love for each other and thank Him for His bountiful blessings to us all!
God bless each and every one of us!

Well, thankfully my kids are old enough to understand that $0 = 0 Christmas because of our subsistence budget. I work nearly every waking hour in summer and save my money, in order to get through the dry season of winter. I missed too much work this past summer because of my feet and it took everything I Was making just to get by at the time. The money that I had saved for retirement is gone, having been bled away over these last 7 years of famine. I'm waiting for a check for $200 for closing up the summer home that I take care of but, those checks don't arrive until the end of the month.
"Young'uns, you'uns make your Daddy proud. I've taught you how the world really works and you're heads and shoulders above your peers. You've never given me cause to worry about what you're up to. I hate to tell you this but, Santy Claws got a DWI and won't get out of jail until after Christmas."
I have to make that speech tonight, PRAY!
We have some of their stuff but, not the stuff they axt for. Knowing we're broke, my kids requests were modest.
I praise God for the Abundance of His Grace.

We are participating in our weekly prayer time at 5pm EST. Check out the prayer request forum for some prayer topics, but feel free to lift up your own.
You may also fast. There's no obligation or guidelines to how you should do it, or if you should do it at all. Just fast as the Lord leads and speaks to your convictions.

I was born in Lenoir, NC in 1963. My family was just like everybody else's; Dad had a 1950s Brylcream haircut (not a ducktail, more like Rock Hudson) and went to work while Mother stayed home and took care of the kids. On Sunday's, we went to Mt Zion United Methodist Church. When I was 5 years old, my family quit going to church, after Pop got into it with the leadership; people to whom he ever after referred to as a " bunch of hypocrites". He then decided, at 34, to grow his hair and become a hippie, well more of a pseudo hippie and I think a lot of it was to piss off his Dad. So, I was raised by a man who looked like a hippie but, was actually pretty conventional albeit a liberal. Yeah Dad was a leftie of the pre PC vintage of the 50's and 60's, very pro 2nd amendment, "I don't care where a man puts his pecker as long as he don't want to put it in me", he lived long enough to see the gay marriage thing, which he thought was absurd. He voted for JFK, NIXON, Bill Clinton W (2000) and Obama, twice and he would have voted for Trump because he would never have voted for a woman for President ( he was born in 1934) A female Representative? Yeah, he voted straight ticket "DEMICRAAT!" Anyway, by 1970 Dad had long black curly but, not bushy, hair. He used to let me stand behind his chair and run my fingers through it, yep he had beautiful hair. He was just an all around good guy. Unfortunately he married a coldhearted, ill tempered, narcissistic shrew who unleashed her frustrations in the form of psychological abuse on her "beloved boys" and that's all I got to say about that and it plays no further part this continuing narrative.
End Part One. Man, I hate ending on a downer..."BLEHHAABIBBILISPLABLEFLOP!!!" That's...better...it's an actual Yosemite Sam quote y'know...well...mayyybeee,,,not.

Apartment Fire |

No, not mine, but in the same complex. We were awakened this morning to sirens just outside in the street at around 5 AM. Smoke was rising from one of the buildings out of our line of sight. Veloyce went over to see and the firemen were chopping away at the door of an upstairs unit, yet the lights were all on inside. We don't know who the residents are, but I'm sure we'll find out more later today. The bigger problem is the likelihood other residents may be forced out by the damage.
Correction: The source of the fire was in a downstairs apartment. There were three other units directly affected by the fire and smoke.
