Ride

Finally, my foot is healthy enough to ride my motorcycle and tomorrow perhaps but, for sure Sunday I will ride a little, it all depends on the temperature and wind. Accuweather is calling for a high tomorrow of 43° and 56° for Sunday. Common sense dictates Sunday as the better choice, however common sense is not a virtue that I possess in great abundance and, I will probably wrap up like Nanook of the North and go for a short ride tomorrow. Last winter, I made a 50 mile round trip when the temp was in the low 20's, that was a character builder. 
 I had to sit out most of the summer and it was hard seeing other people enjoying themselves while I could only watch. Major bummer.
 Riding is an exhilaration that makes me grin like an idiot every time, I forget all my troubles and just relish the moment. I had big plans to take it on camping trips and visit my buddy in Roan Mountain, Tennessee and going to bike rallies and whatnot and it didn't happen so,  with my usual sarcasm and sense of irony, I decided to rechristen the mc Traveler. We'll see what happens, pray for my safety please.

Keep in mind (I'm sure you know though) that the temp is always lower when you ride because of the wind. I am too aware of this when I ride my motorless-cycle (bicycle).

He's definitely there when I ride. The temperature in the holler never rose above 35° today plus I had a bunch of chores assigned to me, one of which made my neck go "ping!" so, now I'm in my neck brace. Mmm...maybe Sunday.

"I ain't never gonna announce my intention to ride no more, never !" That is the most emphatic statement of intent possible in the Hillbilly language. 
 My right foot is swollen too much to fit all the layers of socks on my feet and then into my boot so, ain't riding! Bluhh! From now on, I'm only gonna talk mc when I'm finished riding. 

On a more depressing note, I went to church this morning without considering tomorrow is Veterans/Armistice Day. Recognize the vets, I got no problems with that and I will sing the star spangled banner with my hand over my heart. Funny though, there wasn't exactly any national unity over the war of 1812. However, it's the pledge of allegiance that I won't have no part of. Anyway, it was the typical 'merka oorah! Evangosermon, you know the kind I'm talking about. I have to remind myself that I'm there because of relationships I have that go back 20 years, be who I am and forget about the rest. I have an ear bud that connects to the sound system and can turn it off when the preacher gets silly. (Every reference to Israel read as meaning America silly).
 Drew Brees, 1st game back and getting creamed today. I miss NFL Sunday Ticket, being able to watch whichever game I want and switching back and forth is pretty dang awesome. Regular TV NFC is Panthers every week and I don't like them, AFC is the Patriots and they're okay but, I don't remember being anything but, a Raider fan and we don't get their games much in the East.

Yeah, I sat down and looked at the projector screen in front of the baptisin' tank and saw the "Blah Blah our veterans Blah Blah" thing and my heart sunk, "aw...cheese". The worst was when the preacher equated Isaiah 33:22 to "our" 3 branches of Gubment. That's when I turned off the sound and started reading something else. What a maroon. It's no wonder attendance is half what it was 6 years ago. There ain't no "my opinion" to it, his statement was blasphemous. I don't know what else it could be when you substitute YHWH with Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. For me he went from "He ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer" to "dumber than a bag of hammers".

That statement about Isaiah sounds a lot like the one a national politician made a few election cycles ago, where he equated Mitt Romney with Pontious Pilate because they were both governors. I facepalmed so hard; I think a lot of people did.

I can speak directly to that, Jay. A lot of preachers think of their service as a job, a profession. This is the result of trying to do the job without any valid inspiration from God. They have to present something that will keep the audience engaged with the branding. This is the kind of stuff that gets a lot of discussion in ministerial training courses. There are whole sets of courses out there on different approaches to "sermon prep." Most of it comes off okay, but failure to really dig into the academic background of the Bible results in some really nutty stuff in the pulpit, and from people who want to wear the mantle of preacher in politics.
