Evangelicals demise.
#1
1st point. I've long since been thoroughly disgusted with Media Evangelicals. More recently, I find myself almost physically sickened in the presence of their delusional brethren in everyday life. There are a few I can still fellowship with because they have faith, even if they're wrong about how it was acquired. Evangelicals have "sold their souls" to two things utterly removed from Christ, that being the notion of America as chosen nation and politically to the Republican Party. If I'm right they are promoting the agenda of Satan, some I'm sure with full knowledge but, the vast majority of followers are merely useful idiots who simply believe whatever comes out of the mouth of a preacher because the man claims to be "called" but, actually it was a taste for fried chicken.
2nd point. As I observe them in action; particularly in their willingness to pass on Trump's amoral track record which would have disqualified him in prior elections and in their placing of politics before their declared morality. This should, at some point, result in their downfall. Comments? Mine: at the turn of the 20th Century the UK was a deeply religious country, today they are not. Politics replaced faith.
General bringer of great personal joy, A. I would love to see the MegaChurch emptied and turned into office space, shopping centers and theatres, oh wait, they already are, okay then, regular bidnesses for heathern's ah fudge! They're that too. Okay bulldozed, tore up and returned to productive farmland or parks.
Example of Gross Hypocrisy #'s 1 thru 10. Evies like to hang with other Evies and talk a LOT about what other people ought to be doing, gossip, bemoan the state of the country, etc...When the time comes to actually do something out come the wallets and the amount of one's $$$ donation = the gooder the deed done. A product of the "wealth=God's blessing" teaching or implied in the US chosen nation rot. When I read the Gospels and then observe these people, I find their actions more in line with the Scribes, Sadducees and Pharisees than with Jesus.
Yore thunks appreciate me much? "Are you on Dope?!" Yessir, I'm a dope but nosir I ain't not high, merely late night delirium.
I was once an arch conservative but, now I'm an AnarchoLudditeAgrarianMysticalAlchemicTribalist. ALAMAT mmm....
"ahlamaht" Nah too Arabic ....AlamAt nah.... I  hereby pronounce my politics as Slurb! Spelled alamat pronounced slurb in the Slorn language of the planet Glaxo in the SmithKline nebula.
I end with nuttery lest thou thinkest that I taketh myself too seriously.
I lied "I'm sorry but,,,,I'm not sorry" it's a given for us here that WC will cease to exist and neither the US or the unique Made in America brand of Christianity can continue in it's current form. It's entirely in the LORD'S hands. I still can't help but wonder. I'm bored, it's windy in the holler which makes our internet too spotty to watch stuff with my Amazon firetv stick. Hence the nonsense. One thunk left. A return to the Antebellum style of government, minus Slavery of course, when the States were still Sovereign and the Federal government role very small and limited. Now that would take more blood than the first War for Southern Independence (Civil War). It'd be easier just to have: A. The People's Republic of North Atlantic States, B. The Free Southern and Rust Belt Alliance, C. American Indian & Paleface Northern Plains Uneasy Non Aggression Co Prosperity Chunk, D. Texas (self explanatory), E. Democratic Republic of Southwest Mexifornia, F. Nevada Free State, G.Northwest Marijuana Co-Op, H. Greater British Columbia ( Canada gets Oregon and Washington). Good night yawn morning.

This reminds me of some of the Old Testament prophets and their feverish visions of God's wrath on worldly wise court advisers. Sounds like you're getting the hang of it, Bro.

Good because, I'm seriously NOT trying.

You and me both, pretty much. To use a southern colloquialism, "I reckon" I could get along living near you. I need a good mechanic from time to time, anyways Smile

Probably not so much in your area, but a lot of evangelical churches up here are slightly left-leaning, or at least what left-leaning was 10 years ago or so. Middle class Christian culture really seems to be behind popular culture by at least 10 or more years. If your church is operating on a corporatist business model, that's not really the way to attract interest.

I was half trying to come up with a funny acronym, I failed. I am a centrist, in that I don't like either side. There's a Unitarian Church in Boone and a hipster church called "Rock" in what used to be a Win Dixie. We don't have the population for MegaChurch but, there are several large new building "mini-megs" as I call them mainly Baptist and one United Methodist (they're kinda leftish, they let WIMIN be preachers! "Quick men Run and get your codpieces" ). I have no idea how they operate. I know the type of people, a dull, regimented lot who dress alike, look alike and think alike. I tried, really tried for years to fit in the mold, because I thought that's what God wanted. In the end, I just gave up, "I'm not one of these people, they know it, I know it and I'm tolerated 'cause they think it's their christian duty".

The modern corporatist stuff was just getting going when I bailed out of the mainstream church ministry, roughly a decade ago (it was right before I started the current blog). I was then and still am willing to go it alone. I suppose that's how I drew a few loners like myself. I'm still willing to plunge ahead with a small group like we are now. I honestly believe it will be like this until the crises start popping one after another. It has to be some pretty hard shaking of His Body before the mass of hangers-on get shook loose.

I don't have to know where God is taking us to love riding along.

Seems as though, like a lot of things in life, we don't have a choice in many matters, nor are we getting placed in our preferred situation. None of that really matters but it is a factor.

Uh, pardon my ignorance, but what is anfsctor?  Or, did you mean " a factor " ?  Tee hee

Oh, for Pete's....yes "a factor." Despite my girly hand proportions, I can still fat-finger on my phone.
