Lost/Found Wallet
#1
Lost my wallet for a few hours. It turns out I had left it at my mother-in-law's last night when we were there for Turkey Day. I don't get nervous or worried when stuff like this happens, moreso very annoyed. The idea of spending hours looking for something feels an enormous waste of time. I'm just glad God is patient with my quirks.

I lose stuff like that all the time, and I hate wasting effort on it the same as you. One of the few good things the military did for me was teaching my hyper-organization. The Lord helped me recognize that I needed to absorb that. You have to have it in you. Now at least I seldom lose track of important things, though I still misplace lesser stuff all the time.

Half of the problem I think is social: men have wallets, women have purses. It's much harder to lose a whole purse than a wallet. This is not me going "men's rights" or anything. I'm not that whiny and I have no desire to "have a national conversation about men's belongings"...I just need to adapt. Luckily, I don't own a lot of things so there's not a lot to get lost. It's just that the top 4 things (wallet, keys, phone, ID badge for work) are never in the same spot consistently.

Seriously entertaining (again) the idea of a fanny pack. They aren't considered as dorky as they used to be since they most of them are rebranded as "waist packs" or can double as over the shoulder bags as well. That would really solve my problem of the Big Four being scattered. I've also been continuing my kick of really getting rid of a lot of superfluous things to save brain space/energy, and having a fanny pack men's mini-travel bag will be another step forward for that.

I've used a fanny pack for decades now. Once I tried it out and found how easy it was to keep track of all that "purse stuff" I have always had one. I don't wear it if I have something with sufficient pockets, but it all goes back into the thing when I get home, and I always know where the pack is.

I found a black Mary Kay makeup bag that my wife doesn't use and put my junk in it. I hate having stuff in my front pockets, I carry a wallet when I'm up and walking but I have to take it out when driving because it mashes my already pre mashed sciatic nerve. In my CRV there is a storage space conveniently located, when she falls apart my number 1 requirement for an automobile will be "does it have the right place for my wallet?"

Thanks, guys, for the info. Iain - I have the same protocol when it comes to my wallet. My chiro said to ditch it from my back pocket because it causes misalignment. I use a standing desk at work but there's always a time where I'm sitting and half my butt is being pushed up by that accursed thing.
