The answer is in the question: "What do you need to carry out your mission and calling?" Think about what your convictions demand you have on hand. The primary effects of catastrophe will be mostly a matter of power outages. Nobody knows how pervasive or for how long they'll be.
So, for me, it's a matter of being ready to keep sharing the teaching of the Word. I need to have lots of paper and writing supplies on hand. I may also need envelopes and stamps at some point. It's not enough to know that a CME of some size is coming, but that I've been warned in my convictions to start pulling away from using the Internet as my mission field. While I don't yet see what will replace that mission field, I know that the Net is no longer it. This is not the end of computer use, but the end of being an expert on how to navigate and use the Internet. I won't forget what I know about that, but I'll stop doing very much of it. As long as I have a computer, you can bet I'll use it for writing and printing stuff, but I have no idea how long I'll have one that works. So there is a matter of practical steps to be able to carry on the mission of sharing the Word.
The rest is just incidentals. Veloyce and I keep a rotating supply of certain canned goods, but only for as much room as we have in our apartment. We hope our cars keep working, but I've still got my bicycle. I'm expecting an economic collapse of some sort, so I'm buying supplies of stuff I am pretty sure I'd use in almost any context. I'm sure some measure of the economy will recover later, but it's preparing for that period of time between the current system crashing and a new one rising to replace it. Meanwhile, I'm keeping an eye on the decline we are facing right now, and I'm adjusting my buying choices as I learn how some things have already become so useless I should stop buying them. I'm adjusting my eating habits to match what I estimate is likely to be still available during and maybe after. It's that kind of thinking we all probably need.
I'm sure the others can add their own ideas.
