Dr D
#1
Man, these are stacking up today.
My Doctor, John Davis just lost his Daddy. Remember him and his family please. The man has been my doctor for the last sixteen years, he has a heart that genuinely cares for his patients. He fusses at me over my high BP & the other things Drs say are bad. I pray the Lord grant him the mercy to get through all the procedin's that lie ahead in the same manner as He did for me when my Daddy expired.

Them procedins can be quite a mess when you're poor; they get really messy when someone had a little property. I'm praying Dr. D doesn't have to fight with anyone over the final disposition of things. Here's to a heart that heals and gets on with the mission.

"Procedin's" is a word used to describe a folk divorce ritual in The Andy Griffith Show episode "Divorce mountain style" Briscoe Darling( "feller of trees and tiller of soil") quizzes his daughter who had performed the divorce ritual asking "You mean the procedin's is in the ground?". I find TAGS to be the most hilarious TV comedy ever. When my wife and I were "a courtin' " she introduced me to TAGS and we've traded lines from it ever since. There is a quote for every situation. I use procedin's for anything that has an organized process. When it comes to quotes TAGS is second only to the Bible in my quotabulary and is why I like to invent words like quotabulary, my vocabulary of quotes. Example: "we are gathered here today to join together ....in holy matrimony" is The Incant that formalizes the procedin's . It don't take much for me to amuse myself. The Lord says it makes me a gem. I see a lot of laughter going on in heaven, I believe we'll be crackin' funny a lot. The joy of the Lord is my strength. Amen.

Curious, Iain, how are you so close to your doctor? Was he a friend before? I only ask because I've never been that close to any of my doctors. My current one I've only seen a few times since I started going to his practice the last 10 years. I usually see his assistants when I get physicals, etc.

My wife has worked for the clinic where he's a partner for 18 years and I'm in there often, usually with my daughter (boyboy drives now) to receive our Mom directives because she's well...Mom and I'm an irresponsible nitwit who "lets them do..whatever they want" Guilty as charged. I do insist on good manners, good grades and good behavior. Anyway, I veered out of my lane there. Ok reread Q. Good idey mr Iain. I have bad discs from the top of my neck down to the sacrawedgie with an osteoarthritis chaser, Hypertension, occasional freak outs & other stuff. I endure chronic pain with the aid of medication. I have  to see the good Doc every three months for ongoing evaluation of my various conditions so that the appropriate medications can be applied. We talk about stuff like faith and good deed doin' during my appointments. I see him out & about. He lives about 1/2 mile from my in-laws if I see him out weedeating,  I honk the horn and stop, he pulls his hearing protection off and I'll ask "Hey Dr D, what would you be doing if I hadn't of stopped you?" He shakes his head and goes back to work. Hillfolk will, if they like you, aggravate you at every opportunity. We're weird that way, as we are with long winding, twisting answers that take for-freaking-ever when a simple "I know him casually not, socially" would suffice. We're the macaques of humanity, mmm.. Yep macaques absolutely. I can even hear Sir David Attenborough's narration "Here in the high wooded hills of Appalachia, we find the hillbilly in his native environment on his porch drinking tea, jabbering on about those dadgum Liberals...oh wait a heated argument is breaking out over what's in the Bible ..."

There's a place for stream-of-consciousness narratives, Iain, so keep it up.

My body is 54 and achy, it pops, cracks and my neck sounds like spinning the sparking wheel of a Zippo lighter with no flint but, my heart still beats with the soul of my 14 year old daredevil self. Knowing...well, really getting to know Jesus is AMAZING and shouldn't be fettered by over much navel gazing. So go ahead and stack quarters into the base of a busted lightbulb while the lamp's still plugged in and find out what happens. Should you survive, you will have a great story! That relates to what you were saying earlier, no last week now about sorrow. He that hath ears listen.

I'm in agreement with Ed, Iain. Your posts are unexpected entertainment on the level of a street performance, maybe higher and without the body odor. I'd tip you if I could.
