The other day someone made a feeble attempt to castigate me for not clinging to Luther's teachings. I told them Luther was not relevant to me. Up to the last writing of the Apostles, everything applies to us. After that, everything is optional.
Scripture is binding on us. Irenaeus, Origen and Augustine are not binding on us. None of the Church Fathers are binding on us. Thomas Acquinas is irrelevant. Martin Luther is irrelevant, as is John Calvin and everyone since those days. Sure, I've read their works. Their teachings were not Scripture. They don't apply to us; they are merely suggestions.
Someday, the stuff I write will become irrelevant. How hard is that to understand?
