Broke Christmas
#1
Well, thankfully my kids are old enough to understand that $0 = 0 Christmas because of our subsistence budget. I work nearly every waking hour in summer and save my money, in order to get through the dry season of winter. I missed too much work this past summer because of my feet and it took everything I Was making just to get by at the time. The money that I had saved for retirement is gone, having been bled away over these last 7 years of famine. I'm waiting for a check for $200 for closing up the summer home that I take care of but, those checks don't arrive until the end of the month.
"Young'uns, you'uns make your Daddy proud. I've taught you how the world really works and you're heads and shoulders above your peers. You've never given me cause to worry about what you're up to. I hate to tell you this but, Santy Claws got a DWI and won't get out of jail until after Christmas."
I have to make that speech tonight, PRAY!
We have some of their stuff but, not the stuff they axt for. Knowing we're broke, my kids requests were modest.
I praise God for the Abundance of His Grace.

Yeah, there's a lot of that going around right now. My wife is getting eye surgery for Christmas, though it takes place early next month. There's no significant risk, but it's expensive.

Eesh. I don't envy that situation, Iain. Merry Christmas to you and your kin, regardless. Smile
