Identity
#1
A quick, summary note on some things that I've been thinking about lately.

Most humans don't have the mental structure or energy to form their own identity. Rather, we have frameworks for identity offered to us, and we "decide" (I don't think the choice is entirely willful) how we fit inside such an identity. Pre-mass communication, we had very few of these frameworks offered to us. Some had one option at all. Either way, we fit ourselves into a mold in this way, often more that one mold. One identity wins out over all the others, and at different times.

As members of God's covenant houshold, you have such an identity offered to you. The identity has aspects that everyone who plays an active part of the household has, but it also has parts of it that only you can fill. What are those parts? Chances are, only you can answer that question.

Ideally, in this fallen state of being, we could find ourselves in a decent earthly covenant household, that could form an earthly analogy to this spiritual identity-conforming pattern, but it's unlikely, unfortunately. Social structures in the west, esepcially, aren't friendly to that way of doing things, but it's foolish to rule anything out when God is involved.

Indeed, the best hope anyone has of forming their own identity is first passing through a biblical covenant community. Those are the people who will work the hardest to set you free from false constraints.
