Dorian
#1
Hi there!  Hurricane time again.  I am asking all of you reading this to remember in your prayers all those already in or soon to be in the path of Hurricane Dorian.  Only those of us who have been ravaged by such storms can understand that kind of wrath.  It appears our coast will most assuredly be hit directly or glancingly (is that even a word?), but the wind, rain and storm surge will surely be something to reckon with.  It was almost a year ago when Florence slowly drenched all of us.

My concern is for all of my friends and family who live at the coast.  They have enough sense to come inland, but some of them haven't even moved back into their homes yet since Florence!

My generator is full of gas, I checked the oil and it started fine.  It will run everything in the house except for the heating and air, but I leave my A/C at 80, so that is not a necessity for me anyway.  My home is open to anyone around the neighborhood who needs anything I have should the power go out and they have no source of power.  It is SO nice to be able to share!    (:^)

Bryan always got everything gassed up whenever a hurricane was around just in case someone needed help afterwards.  So, the chain saws are all gassed up as is all our/my other equipment and with some of the guys on my street able to run that stuff, we will all be able to continue that kindness to others he was so fond of showing.

I miss him................

Yeah, I always remember y'all flatlanders when this happens. May He protect you and your property. They affect us in different ways even when they go directly over. I don't have a generator but, I do have kith and kin.

Miss Linda is a fine lady, a dear sister and a most treasured friend who, has blessed me over and over. She is brought close to my heart each day when I remember why I haven't had a brother in law for 17 years, a deep wound which I shall carry to my grave. Her sorrow is my sorrow, her joy is my joy too, for we are family. I know the Lord holds her in His embrace and He will keep her safe. Anyone fortunate enough to be with her through Dorian will be safe also because the Faith gifted her by her Father will cover them. I pray that they see this or at least ponder the matter .
It can be the simplest thing in the world that begins the quickening of hearts. It was for me anyway. I'm rambling,  maybe but, I do believe that she may well have a greater impact in moving this thing of ours than any of us. Don't ask me why it's just one of those things you kinda just know.
Bless you sister and when you read this know that I love you very much.  Heart Angel Big Grin

Awww....  If y'all had ANY idea how precious you are to me.  Right now, you are the men in my life.  There are neighbor guys that are helpful, yes; but none at this time are full of Our Lord as y'all are.

Currently my services are working.  I do have a battery operated radio jic and there is always my car radio.  LOL.   We have only had a little over an inch of rain thus far although it just now started POURING.  The heavier rains and the winds are not expected until later this evening on into the early hours.  However and unfortunately, we are having a lot of tornadoes, some touchdowns.  Not around here just yet but they are close - within 30 miles.

And, Iain, you are just too daggone sweet!  Thank you for your kind and loving comments   Smile   Blush

Is your house/property prone to flooding at all?

Dorian is no longer affecting us at all other than a little wind.   We had a little over 2.5 inches of rain.  Only one branch down in the yard.  Many folks east of us on out to the coast are still being beat up by wind, rain and/or storm surge.  As we speak, it is about to make landfall on or extremely close to our outer banks near Cape Hatteras then on out to the Atlantic where other states' coasts will surely be affected.

Our yard slopes from the NE corner to the SW corner into a creek.  So, the yard may "pond up" but eventually that is either absorbed into the soil or it runs off into the creek, which has 3-4' high banks.  So, no, we don't have a flooding problem thankfully

I am hoping to post to my blog today.  13 weeks, 91 days ago, B died.  I will try.
