On My Side
#1
For us at Radix Fidem, not only has death lost its sting, it's also an ally.

Quote:I've been waiting
Give me a sign
There's nothing left to face
Only the time
I see shadows
Devils, decline
I've lost my faith in us
Found my design

So now
Where is the enemy?
I can feel no bite
Where is the enemy
When death is on my side?

Something building
Raging inside
This hope gave me release
Gave me a why
Can't shake this ground beneath
I came to fight

So now
Where is the enemy?
I can feel no bite
Where is the enemy
When death is on my side?

Consuming victory
The trumpets calling out to me by name
By name
No looming debt for me
No, death his will find his aim to be in vain
In vain

So now
Where is the enemy?
I can feel no bite
Where is the enemy
When death is on my side?

Call me old fashioned but, I prefer my "devil music" devilish and my sacred music sacred. I remember when 2nd wave Brit Punk (Crass, GBH, Discharge etc) and Motorhead had an American bastard called Thrash. I liked the fast tempo and the loud distorted guitars but, I thought the lyrics were silly hype for spotty teens who couldn't get a girlfriend. I was in my early 20's so perhaps I could see it for what it was and those musicians have admitted that it was just nonsense.
Nonsense that led to record burnings and TV shootings in fundamentalist church parking lots. True dat, my uncle took their 700lb RCA 27" color console TV behind their church and blasted it with his 1911. It became a "thing" around here, a sign of ones devotion. Within a month, Uncle Larry had a newer better TV because he couldn't live without NASCAR.
  I love my people.

"Metal is Bluegrass through a Distortion Pedal"
   Chris Greene.
Y'all don't know him, he ain't famous or nothing, he's just a guy who has Pillsbury dough boy dolls decorating the roof rack of his Subie.
"Dang Chris, your dough boys are awesome" said Mr Iain wishing he had thunk it first.
"I'm telling you man, they ain't 'ary a deer run into her since I put'em on there" related Chris about his faith in the hoodoo.
"Dude, you are a bone fide artistic genius, I tell you what"*

* pretty much what was said, it's been 10 years at least.

I vaguely remember record burnings, but I didn't know there were shootings "because" of metal.

It didn't take much back then to bring out the guns and destroy Satanic influences. It usually took the form of a Revival, the newly "saved"(that Sunday morning)would attest to the power of the Holy Ghost by, shooting the Satanic article and then, burning it during Sunday evening service.
"If thy left hand offendeth thee, shoot the bastard".
