My wife has been diabetic for over 18 years, it began as gestational diabetes when she was prego with manboy but didn't become permanent until after sweetness and light was born. She doesn't take care of her condition like she should. Yesterday her blood sugar collapsed. She took a sick day and spent the day in bed. Watching someone with serious low blood sugar is like watching someone who is very drunk. Coordination is shot and speach is slurred. It was 4:00 am this morning before she got gooder. Sorrry about the preceding English language butchery but, I have to inject levity I'll 'splain later. Her A1C is always higher or whatever not really that great is. Joe Esposito, an army buddy of E!vis was asked many year after Elvis expired why they ( £!√/$ Memphis Mafia) did try to do something about Eze drug abuse. Joe answered "How do you save a grown man from himself" . That is where I'm at with my wife, she has to do it, I can't force her. Pray please. My kids will need their mother long after they're grown up.

I've watched a couple of relatives kill themselves by ignoring diabetes care. That's really hard to do, but you are right: she's the only one who can do it. May the Lord show her some good sense.

My son came home from work and said "I'm not letting her kill herself." He talked the fellow who owns th gym where he works out to let her come and use the treadmill gratis until it's warm enough to walk Bass Lake. In winter there are sheltered sections where light winter gear is comfortable and 2/10ths of a mile later you need Artic wear. So if you dress one way you freeze and if you dress the other you sweat, then freeze. I'm in no position to criticize anyone's eating habits. We eat whatever is on sale. I thank God so much for blessing us with children who inherited the best parts of our characters. Graham's thing is health and fitness and Megan is an artsy fartsy like me but, not having a psycho mom like I did she doesn't have a self destruction imperative that is held in check by the Holy Spirit, tenuously. I've found the Lord will rarely stop us from doing deliberate stupid.

I've had some extended family with diabetes that wasn't managed very well. There's also more immediate family that I'm closer to that have but they seem to get along better. A lot of it is the culture that addresses it.

Not to be "that guy" but has she tried the ketogenic diet? It's supposed to be great for diabetics.
