Early in the week my brother-in-law (David Davis) went to the ER. He was very ill with pneumonia. While there, he suffered a heart-attack. In the midst of testing, they discovered he had had a serious heart-attack a year ago. They can't do anything more than cursory testing because his body is struggling too hard. He is now also suffering emphysema (COPD). So, right now his heart is working about 5% while his body is fighting the infections. If they can't get it under control, there's too great a likelihood he will have more heart-attacks until he's dead. If he lasts long enough, I plan to go see him Saturday. He's about 72 years old, been a smoker his whole adult life. I performed the wedding between him and my sister some years ago.

Prayers that the Comforter will reveal himself, strengthening him in the inward man and bringing healing to his body.

I spent a little time with David today. He's been downgraded from ICU to Critical Care. He is sleeping a lot, can't stand the food, and has plenty of company most days. He is now coughing up sputum and it's the right color for someone on the mend. More tests/procedures are coming Monday. I prayed with him before I left.

David was transferred to Saint Anthony's (the old original facility before they bought up and built a bunch more) near Downtown OKC. Yesterday one stent was put in, and the cardiologist noted that another may be necessary. The lung infection is improving and there are no signs of general sepsis. I will try to ride my bike up there today and see him again.

I will lift prayers for your safe journey and for him, his family and doctors.

Thanks. I was there for about a half-hour. He noticed when I came in the door but stayed asleep the rest of the time. His vitals on the monitor next to him looked okay except for what I took to be a very low blood oxygen level. Mostly I prayed over him and asked the Lord to make His Presence felt regardless of the outcome. I decided not to bother asking the nurses about his condition; they appeared pretty busy.
