Hosting upgrade
#1
My hosting plan was upgraded automatically earlier last week, mostly because of the number of files I host. I am fine with this, since it's implicit with the upgrade that we'll enjoy increased bandwidth (to put it simply) to handle more visitors. Not that we need to handle more visitors, but there should be a general performance increase across the board when serving up pages. I doubt we'd be able to notice since slow-loading pages can be rare here, but maybe we will.

The difference will be noticed more in some parts of the country (or world) where BlueHost may not have a strong link. Here in Oklahoma, it will speed things up a bit because our fat pipes come from either the Gulf Coast or West Coast, and somewhat from the East Coast. Last time I checked, BlueHost is keeping your server account in Utah, and there is no direct link between Oklahoma and Utah. Just visiting your personal blog in particular used to exhibit some delay here, but not now.

That's a good point, and I don't think I've noticed latency because I've never lived anywhere where there wasn't the "fat pipes" that you mention. There are some rural spots here, when driving back from Elena's school, where I don't have a great network signal...but that's a different network. I wonder if those rural spots have similar wifi issues, but probably not. They're sandwiched between urban areas, not terribly remote.
