The Daughter
#1
I've mentioned this subject before. It's not a pleasant one, though it should be. She has run out of options where she's been hanging out in Joplin, MO. She says she has a bus ticket to OKC. She's been begging for a place to stay, but everyone in the family knows what kind of trouble that brings. Honestly, she is a threat in disguise. Not violent, but wholly untrustworthy. Besides, no one has any spare space. We have all down-sized and are packed in where we are.

I'm the only person she hasn't talked to, and she knows how that will turn out. We are all for seeing her get another chance at life, but not without seeing evidence of repentance, or at least just a good recovery. She claims that she is very ill and the hospital there cannot diagnose what's wrong. She has said she thinks she is dying, but that may have been her standard drama. She tends to say things that have no connection with reality.

Around age 9 she crawled into a fantasy world and has never come out. She is wholly solipsistic; she has zero awareness of how much pain she has caused everyone. I'd give anything to have her come back to her senses, but there is nothing I can do by myself.

For now, the plan is refer her to assistance agencies in OKC. She's been through them before and knows her way around. She's been on the street at least as much as in any kind of housing. We are praying that some kind of door will open. She claims that she will arrive by bus tomorrow evening.

I will certainly be praying with you about this. So sorry you and Veloyce find yourselves in this circumstance. May the Holy Spirit give you both wisdom, compassion and peace as you travel this road.

Maybe we've all known people like this, at least marginally. It stands out when people don't fall into the range of functional thinking, at least not all the time.

We'll certainly be in prayer about this.

Good job! The Lord has heard us. For now, it appears she's not coming this way, at least not yet.

Wow!  Pulls on my heart.  As you know, i have a younger daughter whom I have not seen since October of 2018.  We have communicated off and on but not since last fall when she was released from a rehabilitation facility after being "on the lamb" for several years.  Yours and my situations are different but the pain is probably similar.   For me, the ache in my chest is very real.

I am relieved for you that her arrival has been delayed.  Prayers lifting that she will find help where she is.
