Judgement and justice

(10-16-2021, 08:31 AM)Ed Hurst Wrote: Oh, tasty bait! In this context, I define justice as both building and restoring. The thing we build and restore is human awareness of God's revelation of how to live in a fallen world. Biblical Law is the exemplary frame of reference that helps us think and act according to God's divine moral character. It's woven into the fabric of reality; it's how the universe operates. Judgement is slicing between what does and doesn't correlate with that divine character in any given context. I think your definition is fine. I'm just trying to put words to the mental image that goes with it.

I've never seen Ed use the phrase "tasty bait" before, but it made me smile to see it. I wonder how many other phrases Ed has that don't often make it into his blogs, but would be known by people who see him "during the week".
