I've spent some time mulling this over before, and I think it might be the case that people are more open about their degeneracy, and we have plenty of tools at our disposal to broadcast. People have probably been so nasty, but modern tech allowed us to see it much more face to face.
I guess mentioning this doesn't really help things, so it's more just an observation.
