At that point, Herod Agrippa had made enough enemies that some human would have gladly done him in, so it would seem God simply got to him first. If he had really turned around, I'm not sure the Lord would have kept him alive anyway, given the complexities of the situation. Being right with God doesn't always mean living longer. The back story is really messy.
