I remember when the Passion came out a few decades ago, and there was controversy over that line about His blood being on them and their children. As I recall, it was kept in the movie but Mel Gibson removed the subtitles. Methinks the folks who raised a stink had a guilty conscience about that.
I also recall complaints that Gibson made Pilate too sympathetic, not quite having it in for Jesus but just trying to keep things from getting too chaotic under his watch, making the Jews look worse in comparison. Though, that doesn't seem to be an unfair depiction of neither Pilate's motivations nor the attitude of the Sanhedrin and Jewish commoners. We all know why people made a stink about it.
