Thanks, family. The warning was significant but didn't last long for our area. We had to hang out in the basement for maybe 30 minutes. I came up to grab the bird from the daughter's room, and I saw a ton of rain and wind outside. No tornados popped up around here, but some decent wind damage in nearby neighborhood near the city.
The photo is a bit deceptive re: the trees. There's a street that runs parallel to mine, behind my house, and the trees you see are behind the houses on that street. Large hill going down, too, but I guess there are a decent fill of trees; we just can't really see them. Most of the place around here is densely suburban, so not as forest-y.
By the way, that bare tree you see on the left has been dead for over a decade now, technically belonging to the property behind us. It's a tall fellow, and it provides us with free firewood when the wind blows some of its corpse off. The Lord provides
