Hernia Surgery
#1
I'm scheduled for 10 April; this should be routine stuff. I will be under general anesthesia for this, but released to go home the same day. My son has volunteered to drive for me.

It's on my calendar. Prayers will be said on the 9th and 10th.

It is on my calendar as well and prayers will lift, most especially for all who will be attending you while you are at the hospital....

God bless you, dear friend.  I am sure you will be glad to be relieved of that discomfort you are experiencing that the surgery will remedy.

I had hernia surgery a few years back and it was really beneficial in relieving some nagging pain and discomfort. Will be praying for a successful outcome.

I'm home at 10:30 our time. They surgery team said it went well and, aside from a lingering marginal darkness of vision, I'm pretty much past the recovery phase. I'm wearing a big belly band and I've promised not to lift more than 10 pounds for the next two weeks. I won't be able to ride until the pain from the surgery itself subsides, but I'm not suffering too much in the first place. They gave me Tramadol and I'm not sure I'll use any of it. I haven't been told, but I assume the hole was small enough that it didn't require the mesh patch. My external suture is glued together.

The Lord is good and I'm glad it's over with. Thank you for standing with me in prayer.

Great to hear! God is good.

The vision thing threw me off. Is that a common effect for this kind of surgery?

It's a common effect of general anesthesia. It's one of the last effects to leave me. Indeed, I have a substantial resistance to all forms of anesthesia, local and general. It didn't fail to put me to sleep, but the effects wear off very quickly. By the time I was dressed, I just walked out unassisted, no wheelchair or anything.

Good to hear you made it through. Will be praying that you will be back on that bike soon.

Amen, Dave. I have a strong sense of calling about it this year. Biking and camping will become a platform of testimony, though I have yet to discover exactly how that will work out.

I never know how the things I do will work out like that, but looking back I can see they do in some way.

Still praying for you, brother.
