RE: Hernia - davew9804 - 07-18-2024 Prayer continuing to be lifted... RE: Hernia - forrealone - 07-18-2024 Grateful surgery is not too far off and that you will have time to prepare and get things accomplished beforehand for your recovery time. I will lift you and the doctors and their staff up that day! God bless you, dear brother. I will have to keep working with the H (I hate that word for some reason) until then, but it has been very easy since I learned what the problem was and my employer has been very accommodating. I am, of course, not looking forward to the operation and the aftermath, but this is the Lord's will for me for whatever reason. Understanding employers, and especially managers, are a Godsend. So you are blessed in that area. Thanks for checking in. "Hernia" has a sound like "hurt," and maybe that's why you don't like the word. It's not terribly fun sounding or elegant to begin with, according to our English-hearing ears. There's also two consonants in the word that aren't glottal or plosive...the word is very vowel-laden and "airy," and some people find that off-putting to hear. There was a joke in a sitcom I saw a few years ago about a TV production team, and one of the new shows in the team's pipeline had a working title of "Rural Juror." Every character hated it because it was hard to understand when they actually talked about it...it just ended up sounding like "rrrl jrrr." RE: Hernia - forrealone - 08-05-2024 Hi, I meant to ask you and perhaps you already mentioned but I missed it - what kind of hernia is it? I had surgery for an inguinal hernia which is more common for men (lower belly near the groin) and I also have a hiatal hernia (rarely fixable through surgery) and my husband had an incisional hernia (his large surgical incision tore). Sorry if I'm being nosy. I am one of those medical geeks. May our Lord cover you with peace, strength and courage. May He bless the doctors and all who will be caring for you with wisdom, skill, patience and compassion. As you are able, keep us posted. God bless you! RE: Hernia - jaybreak - 08-15-2024 Scheduled some prayer time on Friday morning. Let's do it. RE: Hernia - John Providence - 08-15-2024 Linda, It is an inguinal one like you had. I am fortunate because it was easy to keep under control with a belt and allowed me to keep working. Tonight I am working half a shift (normally get off at 3 am, but my surgery is going to be at 10 am and I cannot eat or drink past midnight). Jay, Thank you sir, I am ready to get this thing over with (hopefully)! Many thanks and blessings to you all for your prayers!!!! RE: Hernia - jaybreak - 08-16-2024 I've got your surgery on my mind this morning, John. You're in good hands. RE: Hernia - forrealone - 08-16-2024 Lord, I lift our brother up to you. May all who are caring for him right now have Your patience, compassion and wisdom. May Your healing hand touch his body and stimulate healing right now so that he will be able and well, sooner than expected. Bless his body to keep the pain within what he can handle. We glorify You, Lord, and are grateful for Your presence in our lives. Thank you, Father! Amen RE: Hernia - John Providence - 08-16-2024 Thanks all, the surgery was a breeze, I was out like a light and woke up like two hours later like nothing happened. The pain has been very manageable with Ibu and Tylenol, I am so happy to have that behind me! |
