My wife, children and Nana - IainH - 05-04-2018 Please pray the Lord grant my wife and kids grace sufficient to cope with Nana's long recovery. Specifically; my wife, Michelle has been spending the night and her time after work caring for her mom. It's stressful for her and our kids, Graham and Megan. She can only make pit stops and going to see her at work is, well...bosses want employees to work not meet with family. To care for Nana involves intimate female stuff so, I'm holding down the fort at home. To do this and be on call when needed I am forced by circumstances to temporarily suspend my search for a full time job with benefits and continue my part time housecleaning, yardwork and fix it man work. Our request is for Nana's health to continue to improve until she can do more for herself. Which will ease my wife and kids burden and I can find a real job and feel less like a bum. RE: My wife, children and Nana - Ed Hurst - 05-04-2018 Isn't amazing how the rougher it gets, the more we are driven into the arms of Our Lord? It's only time that is lost in situations like this. I'm proud of you, brother. RE: My wife, children and Nana - forrealone - 05-05-2018 Taking care of my mom when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's back in '06 was 24/7 at her home away from mine. Luckily my daughter and her husband moved back from Boone into my Mom's house so I could come home at night. I was so grateful for that. It is very overwhelming and everyone's life becomes so much more challenging and difficult no matter how strong you are. Caregiving is very difficult and takes a toll in many ways. It is critical for your wife to have serious breaks from it often. Take my word for it. There are organizations with volunteers that will come in and help with that "break time". Be sure to check into it. Example : https://www.ncdhhs.gov/assistance/adult-services/family-caregiver-support http://www.regiond.org In the meantime, i will definitely beseech Father to reach His big arms down and hold you all up and give you all that you need for this! Inside I was ebullient because I remembered the words to Gaither Vocal Band song lead sung by Guy Penrod "On the Authority" I believe it's called. A happy song, I was wearing my "Y'all need JESUS" t shirt so I deemed it entirely appropriate to sing that song, kick my heels and skip down the aisles like a dang fool. I made a lot of folks from one to ninety two smile and share my joy. They may not have been quite sure why they were all of a sudden happy but, I did. I walked out into a monsoon. It did not dampen my spirits merely watered them.(05-05-2018, 06:40 AM)forrealone Wrote: Taking care of my mom when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's back in '06 was 24/7 at her home away from mine.
