Lake Memories - Ed Hurst - 11-09-2021

I haven't been out to Draper Lake in a long time. I can't ride the hills, nor can I ride as far as I used to. While I can drive out there, I can't walk that far any more. This was one of the many picnic tables around the lake. We are looking north from the southern most part of the lake.

I feel for you, Ed.  Grateful that you were able to go again.  I am sure sweet memories poured into your soul.

That looks like a lovely place.

It's still partly wild in a lot of areas, and there are usually very few people around, so it's easy to find a spot where you can pray and contemplate. There's nothing like the sound of water lapping on a rocky shore to give you that sense of eternity calling your name.

That's a solid picnic table, in a few senses of the word. I've seen a lot of public picnic tables fall into disrepair, most of them wooden. It's good to see one persisting like that, and it's in a good spot.

That's the older type. I seem to recall seeing the concrete forms for making those on the spot; they have a wire frame inside the concrete. The newer ones are all welded steel coated in plastic, and anchored in concrete pads. I've used that particular spot for a lot of chapel moments.
