Hello - davew9804 - 03-21-2018 I have followed Ed's blog for the past 5 or so years and read it daily. I always felt like "Western Christianity" didn't quite represent what God intended for us humans living on this planet HE created. I stumbled across (or was led by the Holy Spirit to) Ed's blog and have been blessed by his openness and sharing from his "heart". Through study, prayer and attempting to lean into my heart more than my intellect has been very freeing and leading to the place of shalom. I have by no means "arrived" but am enjoying the journey. My formal training as a mechanical engineer can get in the way sometimes as I was trained to operate from the classical Western concept of the "scientific method" and "cause and effect". My prayer is that I can be used of the Lord to spread the concepts embodied in Radix Fidem to those placed in my sphere of influence or those persons that are open to seeing the scriptures in an "old" way. I most likely will not be a prolific poster but am looking forward to watching how the Spirit will move this forward. Blessings to all... Dave RE: Hello - forrealone - 03-21-2018 Welcome, Dave! I too, was "wandering" the net a few years ago and was lead to Ed's blog. What a blessing it was indeed! The heart-led way has most definitely brought me onto a different path. Having been a system's designer contracted to IBM and then my own company, it was hard, at first, to "unplug" my brain and re-connect with my heart. Challenges and temptations continue, but at least now, I have a different way to handle it. When my brain doesn't take control, that is! RE: Hello - jaybreak - 03-21-2018 Hi Dave! Welcome to the forum(s). Like forrealone said, you're in similar company. I've been a software engineer/designer for nearly 18 years. I have interests in general philosophy/logic and a little science, and I dig a lot of science fiction/fantasy. There's nothing wrong with all of that, especially with how we need to "go along to get along" with the current state of things. It's how we interact with the physical domain. But as far as knowing God, we leave the material logic at the door and go by our hearts (Ed categorized it as "phenomenological" knowledge), because that's the only "apparatus" we have designed to sense God. RE: Hello - Ed Hurst - 03-22-2018 I'm glad to see you joining the forum, Dave. Thanks for your kind words, folks. I'm blessed to give. RE: Hello - IainH - 03-23-2018 Hey Dave, welcome to our "thing". I'm definitely the least educated one here ( a GE freaking D) but, I'll have a crack at it. "Thing"= faith covenant community. What you think Ed? We agree on faith and are a community, albeit a virtual one. Dave, the Lord has brought you here to use your unique gifts to bring Him glory so don't be shy about sharing what He puts in your heart. Shalom, brother. |
