Back to Church - IainH - 08-26-2019 Yesterday I read something that made me realize that withdrawing myself from church is not a great idea anymore. It was because I needed time away. For a while, all I focused on was what was wrong and what I disagreed with. However, I have forged ties with these people going back two decades, I have rejoiced and grieved with them. I can't just blaze a trail ahead on my own and try to build a body on my own, made up of people who agree with my peculiar religion. I can forget about the stuff they get wrong and concentrate on serving God as a weirdo in a sea of conformity. They need someone who ain't skeerd to whop a yeller jackets nest. My Daddy challenged me frequently on matters of my faith in Jesus Christ. Walk it, don't talk it was his challenge to me and anyone else who claimed to be a Christian in his presence. This was the purpose for which he was made. Now, I must pick up the cross laid down by my father and carry it forth, without any expectation of seeing results that can be seen outside of Heaven. RE: Back to Church - Ed Hurst - 08-26-2019 We infiltrate everywhere just so we can help a few see His glory. That's how our faith works. No two of us has the same context and calling, so there can be no rules about being members of anything, including churches. Go get `em, Bro. I realized that I wasn't gonna find a more accepting group of people and that I don't have 20 years to infiltrate another. I can't do anything about what ticks me off from the outside. Question: did you already have your blog post written before you came here? RE: Back to Church - Ed Hurst - 08-27-2019 It was cooking in my head from yesterday, but it was not written. I've had some other communications over the past week or two that germinated the idea. RE: Back to Church - Ed Hurst - 08-27-2019 Linda and I agree that there's a potent sense of impending shocks. That was on my mind when I made reference to coming turmoil. |
