On Watauga!!! - IainH - 11-03-2018

Friday night, Watauga High School varsity football team became the AAA Northwestern NC Conference Champions with a record of 11-0. This gives us home field advantage for the first three games in the playoffs of the state championship. WHS won their only State Championship, so far, in 1978. We are happy and proud of our son for his hard work and dedication to the team. He's a good kid.
I praise God everyday for both our children, they are such a blessing, they have enriched my existence beyond words, they make me a better man and a better servant of my Father.
Amen!

Wow!  That is one impressive record and accomplishment!  Tell your son that this lady is rooting for him and his team!

Good for him! What position does he play?

I never was one for contact sports. In high school I did soccer my senior year (the year we started having a team). Before that I did track and cross country, like a wimp. Fun times.

I avoided football in high school primarily because of two cousins who played and were always injured and having surgeries (same school). But I did run track briefly until I realized the coaches were using it to train for football. They didn't care about track in the least. I went on to a Baptist college with no football and I didn't even bother with sports at all, just followed my own workout. My son followed in my footsteps, avoiding team sports because the coaches were not at all good people. I think it would have been different if we hadn't both gone to big 5-A and 6-A schools.

Left guard and sometimes right guard. He sprained his left wrist last year and wraps various body parts but, never anything serious, thank you Lord. Although he loves football, he'll be glad when it's over so he can drop some weight and "get cut" as he puts it. He's 6'1" & 230 lbs I think.
The only thing I was good at in sports was 100m and long jump. Some of the pranks my friends and I pulled required running fast and jumping, that was the extent of my training. The youthful Iain is best described as "lil' bastard" bane of authority figures. Fortunately, my boy is not like his father in this respect and is a loveable little booger. My daughter is also a great blessing, she possesses the good qualities I had at that age without the bad. She is my best friend and my little anchor, yeah I always gotta mention my girl.
