Here and There - Ed Hurst - 10-04-2024 Fog floating over Draper Lake on a bike ride. Oddly, persimmons are ripening very early this year. Normally it requires a frost, but we haven't had one. A few of these are edible. Sand mining pit -- this destroys some of our best farmland. RE: Here and There - jaybreak - 10-05-2024 Dishes with persimmon must be a regional thing, because I hardly see them. Would like to try someday. RE: Here and There - Ed Hurst - 10-05-2024 They are all seed (8 think) and there's very little flesh left after you get them out, but they are quite tasty. It was a major source of seasonal nutrition of the various native tribes here going way back in time. And today you can find the seeds in deer droppings. |
