kidney stones - jaybreak - 06-15-2022

I had a kidney stone overnight last night. I woke up with extreme pain in the back left side that didn't let up. It was probably worse than when I had appendicitis a few decades ago...maybe an 8 or 9 out of 10. Also had nausea, the sweats, etc. The wife took me to the hospital since it wasn't going away, passed me through the donut machine for a CT scan, and it was diagnosed as a kidney stone. They kept me there until the pain passed and let me rest, and sent us on our way maybe 3 or 4 hours since we arrived.

Taking the day off from work to rest, but back at it tomorrow. I feel fine, other than being a bit tired. Drinking plenty of water and taking a prescribed med to make me pee more. The stone should pass completely (can't wait) in a few days, according to the doctor.

Don't really need a prayer request for any of this, but it definitely did a number on me. I'm just hoping when the stone finally leaves, it doesn't hurt too bad, but I'm no counting on it.

Even though you stated "don't really need a prayer request for any of this"... the Lord has prompted me to pray asking for healing and a quick recovery from this situation. Blessings - Dave

I've had relatives who had to stay in bed until it passed. Praise the Lord you got off a little lighter. That said, I can't tell you what to expect as things progress.

Whew!  You are blessed that everything went as well as it did.  I have taken care of two different people who have suffered from kidney stones, one of whom has had multiple surgeries for them.

Please pray about what and how you eat and may the Lord guide in that respect.  There are certain foods and/or combinations of foods that can contribute to the "construction/formation" of different types of stones in the  kidney, bladder as well as in the gallbladder.  The stones can move out of where they "grew" and pass through ducts/tubes and eventually out of the body or get lodged somewhere.  Other contributing factors are obviously worthy of concern.

This may have been a "one-time only" event; I pray so and will add that to my "Jay list" as I "fly" over PA each night.    Smile

Thanks everyone. I appreciate it!

The doc said the stone was rather small...papers said to give it to them after it passes. Maybe I will get some answers from that, as to whether I can expect more...assuming it's not dependent on diet. From what I've heard, diets play a big role.
