I really need to get to church tonight so pray for that please! Ok , I filled half a legal pad page with prayer requests. I usually pray the list when I get home but, I was too tired and kinda half dozed through King of the Hill episodes until midnight. Then, I brushed my teeth and went to bed and had a hard time falling asleep. I kept trying to pray but was all muddled. RE: Goooood Morning RF! - Ed Hurst - 11-08-2018 The Lord can hear a clear heart over a muddled mind. An effort to pray is never wasted, for the Spirit prays on our behalf (Romans 8:26). I get the sense when this happens that my heart and head are out of alignment, the heart being superior takes over and shuts down the inferior element. In the fuzziness of fatigue, I either fall asleep, vainly try to focus or if there is enough presence of mind, switch to praise. When I finally figured praise was all I could do, sleep followed quickly. For me, there is no better way to conk out than praising God. It's a really good way to wake up too! I get "distracted" easily -- I put "distracted" in quotes because I don't see it as distraction but it's how I really am; my frontal lobe attention wanders to various things but I've learned to live with it, because I'm (usually) bringing whatever I'm thinking to God as the centerpiece. RE: Goooood Morning RF! - Ed Hurst - 11-11-2018 That's the approach, Jay. For better or worse, the distracted frontal lobe is a trademark of this day and time. We need to cultivate the assurance that God isn't riled by that; we are designed to commune with Him on another level in the first place. This discussion provokes another blog post... I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention. RE: Goooood Morning RF! - Ed Hurst - 11-12-2018 Jay was referring to the blog post I said was coming, and at this point, has already come. |
